Wesley Lampkins

Life’s Reflections Wesley was born on September 14, 1928 in Margaretta, Florida to the late Samuel and Marie Lampkins. He was the youngest of eight children. He received strict Biblical principles under his father, Elder Samuel Lampkins, Pastor of the Church of God in Christ, Margaretta, Florida. Wesley was married to the late Nancy Lampkins in 1949. They were blessed with one son, the late Teddy “Ted” Lampkins. He received his formal education in the public schools of Margaretta, Florida. Wesley moved to Lakewood, New Jersey in 1964 and was employed by Storola’s Concrete Company. In 1990 he retired from the Company. In 2004 he relocated to Orlando, Florida where he was able to spend quality time with his son prior to his passing in 2007. “Big Wess” or “Unc” affectionately known to many, was a very special person to all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories about the good old days. He was charismatic, loved to dress, loved to drive luxury cars, smoke long cigars and listen to music. Wesley was a Master Mason at St. Thomas Lodge #10 in Toms River, New Jersey. His IBPOE affiliations were: The Walter J. Conley Lodge #1379. Improved Benevolent Protective Order Elks of The Word, Freehold, New Jersey. Past Exalted ruler of the Pride of Lakewood Lodge 1225, Lakewood, New Jersey. Past State President of the New Jersey State Association. He was also, houseman for the Pride of Lakewood Lodge #1225 for many years and past member of the Council #20, Middle District, State of New Jersey. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. Those left to cherish his memories are: daughter-in-law Linda Lampkins (Ted deceased) Orlando, FL, Sister-in-law Eva Lampkins, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Stepson Richard Sanders, Stepdaughter Stephanie (Robert) Lakewood NJ, Special granddaughter Shalania (Tyrone), Winter Garden, FL, Special Nephews Willie Adkins, Orlando, FL, Jessie Lampkins (Pearl), Joe Lampkins, Clarence Lampkins and Sylvester Lampkins all of Lakewood, NJ. Special Nieces: Carolyn Kirkland (Henry) Eatonville, FL. Ina Cloe Patterson, Pickens, SC, Gloria Young (James) Tampa, FL. and a host of, nieces, nephews’, grandchildren, cousins and friends.
