Wanda Amelia (Morgan) Patterson

Wanda Amelia Patterson was born August 25, 1949 to Georgia Mae Morgan and William McKinley Morgan. Wanda became a member of the Church of Christ at Ninth Street at an early age. She graduated from Charles R. Drew High School in 1967, where she was the Salutatorian of her class. After graduating from school she moved to Rochester, New York where she resided there for six years. While in Rochester, New York she bore two sons, Adrian Marcus Morgan and Christopher Michael Morgan. She returned home to Winter Garden, Florida in 1972 where she met and married Leslie Hugh Patterson, Sr. from this union a son was born, Leslie Hugh Patterson, Jr. Wanda became an educator at Lakeview Junior High School in Winter Garden, Florida, Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School, Apopka, Florida and William S. Maxey Elementary School in Winter Garden, Florida. Wanda redirected her life career and began working in the accounting department for Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster), Sun Bank of Orlando, HBI Publishing of Orlando, Florida. Wanda later became employed at LOWES Building Supply from where she medically retired. During Wanda’s later years she became a prominent citizen in her Community. In 2006, she began volunteering and was donor for Accept Pregnant Center on Dillard Street in Winter Garden, Florida. Continuing in her community activism Wanda became a member of the City of Winter Garden Code Enforcement Board. Wanda had a sincere desire to serve God. She was a Sunday School Teacher at West Orlando Church of Christ on Mercy Drive in Orlando, Florida. Wanda attended the Church of Christ congregations all across Central Florida. She left her mark as a strong faithful sister in Christ where ever she went. Her dedication and service unto the Lord will truly be missed. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, William McKinley Morgan, son, Christopher Michael Morgan. The Lord saw fit to call Wanda from our midst on May 29, 2014, her departure is a deep and personal loss to her family and friends, she will be greatly missed by them all. She leaves to cherish precious memories to: her two sons, Adrian Marcus Morgan of Winter Garden, Florida, Leslie Patterson, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida; Mother, Georgia Morgan of Winter Garden, Florida; eight siblings, Mrs. Phyllis Hill (Hunter) of Tallahassee, Florida, Lonza Morgan (Nancy) of Oakland, Florida, Mrs. Cynthia Oakley (Errol) of Orlando, Florida, Michael Morgan (Ernestine) of Rochester, New York, Mrs. Angelia Gadson (John) of Orlando, Florida, Lorenzo Morgan (Brenda) of Orlando, Florida, Anthony Morgan (Ella); one grandchild; special aunt, Hattie Morgan; special cousins, Gregory and Rebecca Clark, Gerald Morgan; special friends, Darlene Jordan and Gail Nelson; seven nieces; nine nephews; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.
