Minister Stanley James Barton, Sr.

Minister Stanley James Barton, Sr. entered this world on March 2, 1952, in New York City, New York. He was delivered into the loving arms of his mother Vardania Jackson. Minister Barton came to Tangerine, Florida and was raised by his Grandmother Emma Barton. He attended Tangerine Elementary, Phyllis Wheatley Junior and Senior High School, as well as Mt. Dora High School. July 13, 1970, he enlisted in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged January 28, 1972. After he was discharged, he relocated back to Tangerine, Florida. Stanley moved to Orlando and began working for the City of Orlando and DisposAll Waste Company. He started driving dump trucks and worked for many locally owned dump truck companies. If Minister Barton was not talking about the Lord, listening to Gospel music, telling funny stories, and keeping people laughing, fishing was the next best thing. Minister Barton answered the call on his life from God to preach the Gospel and was licensed to preach God’s word by the Late Reverend G. Christopher Clark. He became an Associate Minister at Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and served well until his health prohibited him from continuing his duties. Minister Barton married the love of his life, Jacquelyn Elaine Baker Barton on August 7, 1999, and they have been married for 27 years, but have loved each other for 60 years. Minister Barton was a people person, he never met a stranger. He had a giving heart, always wanting to help someone. Everyone who knew him will truly miss him. He cherished every special moment with his family and friends. Minister Barton leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Jacquelyn Barton; children: Stanley Barton, Jr., Karla Favors, Charles Baker, Tracey Copeland, Danelle Sanders (Michael), and Tonya Harris; brother, Reverend Alexander Barton, Sr.; brother-in-law, Dwayne Baker; sister-in-law, Patricia Brown (Elder Charles Brown); nephew, Alexander Barton, Jr.; niece, Christa Miholics (Steve); 7 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren, 4 special cousins: Reverend Jack S. Harris, Jr., Glenda Harris, Sheri Rocker (Albert), and Gene Johnson; godchildren: Jacqeulyn Tomlinson, Dawn Webb, Richard Bullard, Rodrick Johnson, Kirk Myers, Zolton Williams, and Aaron Thompson-Petty; a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and the Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church Family.
