Rose Charlton Bynum

Mrs. Rose Ella Elizabeth Charlton Bynum, a treasure from God, 98, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her beloved family. Rose was born January 25, 1925, in Winter Park, Florida, to the late Richard H. Charlton, Sr. and Olive Brookins Charlton. Rose attended Hannibal Elementary School and graduated high school from Hungerford Boarding School, Eatonville, Florida in 1943. She continued her education in New York where she attended Washington Heights Business School for two years before returning home to reside in Winter Park. Rose retired after working many years in Service Management and as Caregiver for the Robinson Family. Rose spent many years traveling the world and spending quality time, connecting with family and lifelong friends. She was a strong, vibrantly beautiful, energetic, caring, civic, and community minded woman. She enjoyed bicycling, had a passion for the arts, gardening, and Orlando Magic basketball. She savored spending time with family, and cherished friends, and supporting anyone else who asked. Rose loved God and was rooted in Christ at a very young age. She was a lifelong committed member of Ward Chapel AME Church. She was passionate about serving God and gave obediently of her tithes, time, and talents, serving many ministries and chairing many committees. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Harold Sr. and Olive Mae Charlton, brothers Richard H. Charlton Jr. and James “Brother” Charlton (Lillie), and sister, Anna Belle Charlton. She entered her eternal rest on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Rose was a loving mother and is survived by her devoted Daughter, Andra B. Thomas (Kenneth); Granddaughter, T-La Lowery (Tori) TX; Son, Lawrence Christopher Grey, CN, and extended family raised, Joslyn Schanck Cooper (Gregory), SC, George P. Schanck, III (Wanda), Brandon, FL, Jayne Schanck Babcock, Orlando, FL. She is also survived by, Nieces: Lawanza Charlton, Orlando, FL, Janice Charlton Zanders (Russell) MO, and Toinee’ Yarrell, Spring Hills, FL; Nephews: Troy Charlton (Donna) TX, Ronde’ Yarrell; and Siblings, Ernestine Ingram (sister) and Ernest Manning (brother) and their families, along with a host of loving cousins, other relatives, close friends, and her cherished little boy, ROCKY. A life lived as Rose lived cannot die but will live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved her.
