He attended the Public Schools in Jennings and Jasper, Florida. Receiving his High School Diploma from J. R. E. Lee High School in Jasper, Florida. Reverend Lock was baptized in the Christian Faith at the age of twelve at St. Mary M.B. Church in Jennings, Florida under the leadership of the late Reverend F. W. Williams. In 1967, he was ordained as a Deacon and called to the Ministry and licensed in 1975 at the Zion Hope M. B. Church in Miami, Florida under the leadership of the late Reverend Paul Freeman. In 1976, his job Caterer Air Intl. moved him to Orlando and his family united with the Bethel Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Louis Boatman, Sr. Being ordained in 1979, he was called to be Pastor of Greater Harmony M. B. Church on February 11, 1979 and installed on July 29, 1979. He further prepared himself and attended Orlando Seminary and later attended the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia; where he received his Diploma in Theology. A baptized born-again believer and with the aid of the Holy Spirit, he received his appointment as Pastor of Greater Harmony missionary Baptist Church; where he has shown his Divine Leadership capabilities for 41 years. Pastor Lock served for many years as the former President of the South Lake County Ministerial Alliance. He served as Counselor of the Ministers, Deacons Wives and Widows Council of Congress #2 as well as Congress Treasurer. He also served as Asst. Financial Secretary of First South Florida M.B. District Association, resigning from all positions after dealing with health issues which did not allow him to be in attendance as needed. Throughout his Pastorage he has ordained Ministers, Deacons and Deaconess. He implemented several programs, up grades and renovations of Sanctuary. He endured countless hours of Preaching, Teaching, Counseling, Comforting, Giving and Visiting. Most important with the aid of the Almighty God and much prayer and fasting, many lives have and still are being changed, souls were saved as he allowed God to work in his life. As the Lord used him in the last days, you would hear him say (I want my last days to be my best days) then as his footsteps begin to get shorter, his eyesight got a little dimmer you would hear him at the closing of his sermons (A few more risings and settings of the sun and it will all be over). He was preceded in death by: his Parents: William “Bill” and Inez Lock, Daughter: Stephanie Lock, his Brothers: Bill Lock, Jr., Willie C. Lock, his Sisters: Ida Mae Bristol, Alberta Montgomery and Betty Pearl Lock Morris. He leaves to cherish his memory: a special devoted Godson: Emmanuel Davis of Altamonte Springs, Florida; Nieces: Juliet Tucker, Princess Bailey and Sandra Gandy, all of Jennings, Florida, Syndiretha Warren, Deborah Aikens and Janis Smith, all of Lake City, Florida, Gwendolyn Curry of Hinesville, Georgia, Sheila Tucker of Tampa, Florida, Cacynthia Lock of Tallahassee, Florida, Cheryl Ann Lock of Gainesville, Florida, Demetra Proctor of Chicago, Illinois; Nephews: Bennie J. Morris of Bellville, Florida, Eric Lock of Tallahassee, Florida, William Bill Lock and Carlos Lock, both of Evansville, Indiana, William Grant of Gainesville, Florida and William B. Lock and Kenneth Lock both of Jennings Florida.; two Sisters-in-Law: Mary Lock of Chiefland, Florida, Norma Lock of Lake City, Florida; special Friend and Caretaker: Cassandra Davis of Altamonte Springs, Florida; Godchildren: John Cowart, Marquise Wilson, Latrese Henderson and Kedrick Johnson; a host of great nieces: nephews: cousins: Greater Harmony Church family, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
