Mrs. Nancy Pegues

Sunrise -- Mother Nancy Pegues was born Necy Bell Brown on June 30, 1933, to the union of Joe Hiller Brown, Sr. and Amelia Bass Brown in Sunflower County, Mississippi. Her family migrated to Chicago Illinois in 1938, and she was reared mostly on the near north side of Chicago. She completed studies at Edward Jenner Elementary and Wells Senior High School. She completed her undergraduate work at Herzl Junior College. Mother Pegues was taught to love God at an early age and in her early teen years, Necy, was baptized of water and spirit at the Tabernacle Church of God In Christ, Chicago, IL, pastored by the late, Elder Willie L. Rushing. The doctrine of entire sanctification through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit quickly became her passion. She was united in holy matrimony with her husband of 61 years, Clarence Vandora Pegues, Sr. on September 6, 1953, to this union one child was born Clarence Darrell Pegues Jr. She shared her passion for sanctification with her husband, Deacon Clarence Pegues as they relocated from city to city. Together, the Pegues’ practiced being thankful, prayerful, submitted, giving, and humble to the will of God as devoted servants for God. Mother and Deacon Pegues served as members of Community Outreach Church of God In Christ, East Moline, Illinois, Bishop Charles Westbrook, Pastor. Greater Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ, Aurora, Illinois pastored by Bishop William Haven Bonner. Malone Memorial Church of God In Christ, Orlando Florida Superintendent Tommy L. Wootson, Pastor. Mother Pegues’ role in the church were many through the years, she was a choir member, new members class instructor, fundraiser, and Mother to name a few. Necy was also, one of the co-founders of the Bass Family Reunion. Necy, as she was so fondly called by her late parents, siblings, family members and dear friends, is a symbol of virtue, elegance, and intelligence. Sunset-- Mother Nancy Pegues made her transition from earth to Glory on March 11, 2015. Necy was preceded in death by her parents, her son and grandson Darrell Pegues, two brothers, Joe Hiller Brown, Jr. and Rueben Erroll Gossett, Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, Clarence Sr.; brother, Charles Brown, Sr. of Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Frances Davis (Agusta) of Morrow, Georgia and Ollie Donald of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Niece and caregiver, Amelia Artese Anderson (Isaac, Sr.) of Apopka, Florida; significant first cousin, Freddie Williams (Christopher) of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Bledsoe of Chicago, Illinois, and Bettye Christmas of Riverside, California; Goddaughter in spirit, Jannie Ashford of Chicago, Illinois; her Malone Memorial Church of God in Christ family, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and all the Bass Family.
