Martha Lee Johnson

Martha Lee Sampson Johnson was born January 10, 1943 and was the youngest child of the late Daniel Sampson and Ethel Steward Sampson in Colleton County (Ruffin), South Carolina. On June 5, 2024 our Lord sent His angel into Advent Health Hospital, Winter Park, Florid and escorted her precious soul to be with Him for eternity. Five siblings preceded her to Heaven: Corine Sampson Fryar, James (JW) and Jasper (JC) Sampson and Mary Louise Sampson Fryar. She graduated from Ruffin High School in 1961 and attended South Carolina State College (University) prior to relocating to Mount Dora, Florida. She went on to marry the late Wilbert Milsap, Sr., to whom she was a faithful and loving wife. Their union produced three children. Martha committed her heart to Jesus, faithfully serving Him in various capacities, as a longtime member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church. Her spiritual gifts were “compassion and giving”. She was blessed with a great career at Proctor & Gambles which included the responsibilities of a Chemist, retiring in 1994 after 25 years of loyal service. Later, she received training and began her second career as a CNA at Avante Healthcare. While there, she lovingly caring for others for 15 years, retiring in 2011. In addition to spending vacation time with family in the Great Smokey Mountains and various locations, she was blessed to vacation in Germany, Austria, and Italy. Her second International trip was a “Paul’s Missionary Journey Cruise”; flying to Rome, Italy, touring the French Riviera then taking a cruise ship from Italy to Greece, Israel (Holy Land sites, including the empty tomb of Jesus) and Turkey. Her favorite pastime was watching “Basketball” games with her son. Martha had an unconditional love for her huge family, hosting many Thanksgiving Family Gatherings at her home and never sending anyone away without, as she would say, “a little something”. Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are her children whom she devoted her life to and dearly loved: Wilbert Milsap, Jr., Sherrie L. Garry and Vicki L. Bonilla. Her beloved grandchildren, to whom she was “Nanna”: Diamond A. Robinson, Amber N. Rabinson, Arturo D. Milsap, Javon Garry, and great-grandson, Jai’ Shamon Jones. Three sisters, whom she loved and adored, including: Amie Green and Ozene (Harvey) Fryar, of Ruffin, South Carolina; sister-inlaw, Marie Sampson of Smoaks, South Carolina; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins. Someone Is Missing Let this be a loving reminder that Someone is missing today, Someone our hearts will hold onto as we travel along life’s way. Someone who made life so special, for all those who gather here. Someone who won’t be forgotten but cherished forever. As we pause to remember, let us all fondly recall, how dearly each of us loved our precious Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt, and Friend; and oh…how she loved us unconditionally! Humbly, we accept God’s will.
