Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. - Proverbs 3:5 KJV A Time to Be Born: Mamie Alma Primous was born on January 29, 1940, in Winter Garden, Florida, to the late Acklee and Anthony Primous, Sr. She was given her name in honor of her father's only sister, Mamie Alma. She graduated from Jones High School in Orlando, Florida and went on to build a fulfilling career with The Walt Disney World Company and retired after serving for 32 years. A Time to Serve the Lord & Her Family: At the age of 14, Mamie gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Ninth Street Church of Christ in Winter Garden, Florida, later affiliating with Hart Boulevard Church of Christ in Orlando, Florida. Her devotion to the Lord guided her throughout her life. Mamie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Family was her greatest joy, she cherished gatherings, especially the times spent entertaining loved ones after Sunday worship. Mamies love and care were evident in every smile, hug, and story she shared. Mamie was known for her strong work ethic, which she instilled in all of her children and grandchildren. She taught her family the value of responsibility, perseverance, and financial wisdom. She loved her siblings, her children, and her grandchildren with a full and generous heart. Mamie had a bold spirit and a playful sense of humor—a strong woman with an opinion and a quick wit. She enjoyed shopping, expressing herself through dress, and sitting on the porch savoring life. A Time to Transition: On Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 6:07 a.m., Mamie transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Mamie was proceeded in death by: her daughter, Dwander Primous; her parents, Acklee and Anthony Primous, Sr.; her grandmother, Pauline Banks; and her brother, Anthony Primous, Jr. A Time to Celebrate Her Legacy: Sister Slayton leaves to carry her legacy: two sons, Terrance Primous of Orlando, Florida and Lorenzo (Emily) of Apopka, Florida; three daughters, Toni Melvin (Glover) of Orlando, Florida; Teralyn Primous and Conchita Slayton, both of Winter Garden, Florida. She was also blessed with eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Rutland (Clifford), Pauline Reed, both of Orlando, Florida and Vivian Tindal of Apopka, Florida; brother, Leroy Promise (Anne) of Monmouth, New Jersey; nephews and nieces, including her beloved first-born niece, Cheryl Pollard, whom she affectionately called, "Lu Lu."
