Leslie Hugh Patterson, Jr.

LESLIE HUGH PATTERSON, JR. was born October 5, 1973, in Orlando, Florida to Leslie Hugh Patterson, Sr. and Wanda Patterson. He graduated from Evans High School in the class of 1991. He attended Valencia Community College for two years, then transferred to Fairmont State University. In 2004, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida State University. With his degree, Leslie gained employment with the State of Florida in Tallahassee, FL. Leslie obeyed the gospel in his early 30’s and became a member at Paul Russell Road Church of Christ in Tallahassee, FL. Due to his illness, Leslie returned home and was a faithful member at Ninth Street Church of Christ. He enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed being amongst friends and family. Leslie was a selfless, caring and sharing individual; a blessing, a loving soul that will be missed. An attribute that set Leslie apart was his competitive nature. He loved the game of basketball; he was relentless and fearless on the court. Around the central Florida area Leslie, aka “Spud” was known for his tenacious, in your face defense, a style that has been rarely duplicated through the years. Leslie was known for his point guard play-making skills and his unique jumping ability. Standing at 5’8, Leslie’s explosive-ness off the ground left opponents and audiences in awe. His competitive spirit will forever be tied to his name. After his playing days were over, Leslie continued to be a part of the game. He trained young men and coached on several AAU teams in the Tallahassee community. From his days at the Pine Hills Boys and Girls Club, to his last days with family and friends, Leslie had a way of growing on people. He made you feel welcomed and like family. Leslie is preceded in death by his mom, Wanda Patterson and brother, Michael “Chris” Morgan. He leaves countless memories and priceless moments; Father: Leslie Hugh Patterson, Sr.; brother: Adrian Morgan; a dedicated caretaker and uncle, John Gadson (Angelia); uncles: Alonzo Morgan (Nancy), Michael Morgan (Ernestine), Anthony Morgan (Cocoa), Lorenzo Morgan; aunts: Cynthia Oakley (Earl) and Phyllis Hill (Hunter); nieces: Adrianna and Shantel; 1 great niece; and a host of additional uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and close friends.
