James Lee Johnson, Jr.

James -The Beginning James was born on November 16th, 1953 in Shellman, Georgia, to the late James L. Johnson, Sr. and Mary Jane Thomas. At the age of five, he moved with his mom and sister to Apopka, Florida. James-The Growing Phase James was educated in Orange County Public Schools graduating from Apopka Memorial High School in 1972. He attended Phyllis Wheatley High School prior to transferring to Apopka Memorial High School. While in high school, he participated in football as the center (where he earned the nickname “Chase”) and was a member of the marching band as a tuba player. James- A New Beginning James received numerous certificates and held supervisory positions at his places of employment. James was a very hard worker as he worked for Deep South and in the foliage industry driving trucks for many, many years. Upon leaving that industry, he worked for Hubbard Construction in the Orlando Paving Division as the Utility Foreman for 15 years before he retired due to his failing health seven years ago. James-United in Marriage James was married to Carol A. Grubbs Johnson, whom he had known for 48 years. James-The Final Chapter James was proceeded in death by his father Jame L. Johnson, Sr., his loving mother Mary J. Perkins, his father who raised him Kenneth B. Perkins, and brother Robert Perkins, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Carol A. Grubbs Johnson, Zellwood, Florida; daughters, Dr. Atresa F. Grubbs-Holmes (Marcus), Zellwood, Florida, Courtney K. Johnson, Zellwood, Florida; sons, Ja’Kory Johnson, Bascom, Florida, Dennario Robinson, Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren, Paige N. Grubbs-Holmes, Payton M. Holmes, and Jaden M. Johnson all of Zellwood, Florida; sisters, Christine Blackmon, Apopka, Florida, Felicia Brown (Aaron), Apopka, Florida, Gladys Perkins, Winter Garden, Florida, and Fanita Brown (Quincy), Plymouth, Florida; aunts, Rosa Mae Sanders, Quincy, Florida, Sally Kane, Newark, New Jersey, Alberta Harpe (Delaware), Essie Mae Johnson, Dawson, Georgia; uncle, Sammy Thomas, Cocoa, Florida; two brothers-in-law, Julian Grubbs (Shelly), El Paso, Texas, John Grubbs (Claudette); two sisters-in-law, Virginia Grubbs and Marilyn Perkins; special nephew, Terrell L. Carey, special son, Charles Richardson, Jr.; godsons, John Miller, III, Kirby Grant; and a host of nieces and nephews who considered him a father figure in their lives, cousins and sorrowing friends.
