Evelyn Harris

Mrs. Evelyn ‘Lean” Harris, of Umatilla, Florida departed this life Sunday, October 12th, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Evelyn ‘Lean” Harris was born the daughter to the parentage of the now late Alonzo Harris, Sr., and Johnnie Annie Davis Harris, February 15th, 1941, in Wadley, Georgia. At an early age, Evelyn’s Christian training began under the nurturing and guidance of her Christian parents and became a member of Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Wadley, Georgia, but after moving to Florida she joined the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, in Hallandale, Florida. As a woman of God, She continued to love God with understanding that she was created to worship him and without God she would be like a ship without a sail. She served on the Pastoral Board, a member of the Choir, and served on the Hospitality Board; where she was well known for her sweet potato pies and meatloaf’s at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She became a devoted member of the Rising Eastern Star in 1982. She was preceded in death by one son; Delis Smith, {4} brothers; Willington Harris, Alonzo Harris, Jr., Troy Harris, and Frank Harris, {2} sisters; Ernestine Harris, and Bobbie Neil Harris, and {1} grandson; Andre Smith, and on Sunday, October 12th, 2014 God changed her permitted address and granted her with a Heaven’s Avenue Address. Her survivors includes her loving and devoted children; Teresa Harris, of Wadley, Georgia, Elinore Smith, Nancy Smith, and Candy Harris, all of Eustis, Florida, Talmadge Harris, of Hollywood, Florida, Ed Willie Smith III, of Sunrise, Florida, Kirby Smith, of Hallandale, Florida, and Todd (Wife-Yvette) Smith, of Umatilla, Florida, {2} sisters; Johnnie Mae Jackson, of Tampa, Florida, and Dorothy Harris, of Hollywood, Florida, {2} brothers; Ray Harris, of Manhattan, New York, and Dewy (Wife-Marry) Harris, Sr., of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, twenty-six grandchildren; Tureka (Husband-Shelton) Lewis, Cheyeanna Harris, Ashley Skyers, Sherita Walker, Latasha Harrison, Toddrick Smith, Krystal Harris, Jordan Harris, Eddie Smith, Taylor Harris, Shantira Murray, Shavontae Smith, Malehail Smith, Tiana Smith, Elijah Skyers, Osha Morales, Tyree Morales, Bishop Smith, Johnathan Skyers, Victoria Smith, Rayshawn Rutland, Talmadge Harris, Xavier Skyers, Kyle Smith, Rayon Rutland, and Cledasha Harris, {4} great-grandchildren; Tyrek Harris, Shelton Lewis, Jr., Tramiya Scott, and Tramoni Scott, her daughter-in-law; Sherrie Pratt- Smith, {2} devoted nieces whom she assisted in rearing; Diane (Husband-James) McDaniels, of Tampa, Florida, and Joann Smith, of Enterprise, Alabama, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 18th, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Brinson Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 493 S. Main Street, Wadley, Georgia, with Reverend Johnny R. Sampson as eulogist. Burial will follow in the Live Oak Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Wadley, Georgia. Visitations will be conducted Friday, October 17th, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Davis Funeral Home, 725 Beech Street, Louisville, Georgia.
