Brother Less Bowens

A Time To Be Born: Less Bowens was born on May 30, 1940, in Magnolia Mississippi, to parents Roosevelt Bowens and Bertha Jenkins Bowens. A Time To Learn: He attended Rose Hill Christian School in Pike County, Mississippi. A Time To Plant: During life’s journey, as Less entered into adulthood, he laid a solid foundation in Winter Garden, Florida. He worked the Docks and later became a crew Leader in the Citrus Industry with Heller Bros for many years. Seeking a career change, Less married Emily Bowens and relocated to Stockbridge, Georgia, where he was head custodian at Stockbridge High School. After a few years, he longed for Winter Garden and returned home. He worked at Manheim Auto Auction, where he worked several years before retiring. A Time To Serve: At an early age, Less accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior. He labored faithfully and untiringly until his health prevented him from so. He served as Chairman of Trustees and was a member of the Male Chorus at St. Paul A.M.E. Church. Later he moved his membership to New Inspiration Baptist Church, (still working) under the leadership of Reverend David Harp, Sr. His final Christian assignment was at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist, where he continued to worship and serve in Spirit and in Truth. He also enjoyed singing songs of Zion with the Bethlehem Male Chorus and the West Orange Male Chorus. A Time to Laugh: Less had a very pleasing personality and was ever ready to lend support and a helping where needed. He was somewhat quiet, but could be a jokester as well. He was very family oriented, often putting the concerns and needs of family and friends above his own. Less was a full sports fanatic; his favorite baseball team was the Los Angeles Dodgers. A Time To Die: Less Bowens was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt Bowens and Bertha Jenkins Bowens; sister, Jeanette Butler and brother, Roosevelt Bowens, Jr. On September 8, 2022, the Lord called Less home; And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelations 21:4 Less leaves to cherish precious memories with wife: Emily Bowens of Stockbridge, Georgia, children: Clara Walker (Winston), Shirley Radcliff (Matthew) all of Magnolia, Mississippi; Gary Bowens of Orlando, Florida; step children: Pamela Reynolds and Joe Lee Spencer, Jr., both of Orlando, Florida, Gothriel Johnson (Sharon) of Winter Garden, Florida; raised as a son: Cee Dee Blair, Jr. (Mary) of Apopka, Florida; siblings: Jessie Bowens of Moss Point, Mississippi, Bertha Carr of Magnolia, Mississippi, and Velma Fountain (Johnnie Mack) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Gloria Bowens of Moss Point, Mississippi and Gladys Milburn of Atlanta, Georgia; three special granddaughters: Melkiesta (Kiki) Sweeting of Orlando, Florida, Shavonda Burton of Magnolia, Mississippi and Yarmayne Johnson of Orlando, Florida; special, special great grand daughter: Ka'Miyah Jackson of Orlando, Florida, special grandsons: Tremayne Johnson (Tequilla) of Orlando, Florida and Chaunce Johnson of Stockbridge, Georgia, special niece: Shelia Carr-Smith, of Magnolia, Mississippi; lifetime special friend: Lena Mae Johnson of Orlando, Florida; a host of grands, great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
