Annette Wilson Florence

Annette Wilson Florence, daughter of Oscar Wilson and Catherine Nelson Kelly, was born on July 5, 1954, in Orlando, Florida. She attended Seminole County Public Schools. After graduation, she furthered her education by attending Seminole Community College; where she obtained degrees for Medical Assistant and Interior Designing. At an early age, Annette professed her love and passion for Jesus Christ. She was baptized at New Bethel AME Church in Altamonte Springs, Florida; where she served faithfully on the Usher Board. She later joined Life Center Church, Eatonville, Florida; where she attended until her health declined. Annette was united in holy matrimony to Freddie Lee Florence on December 1, 1973. From this union, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Angela Diana Florence and Rodney Lee Florence. They were longtime residents of Altamonte Springs, Florida until they relocated to Apopka, Florida in 2012. Annette Florence was employed at Stromberg Carlson for over 25 years. She was a very caring Medical Assistant for more than 10 years in the office of Dr. Culpepper, Dr. Overstreet and Dr. Newman; who were prominent providers in the Central Florida area. She dedicated her time taking care of her family, vacationing, and shopping. Annette was an avid seamstress, who loved to model the garments she created. She also practiced cosmetology and was known for “Gheri Curls”. Net would have you “tight and right, with the drip”. She was also recognized for spearheading the first Kenon, Nelson, Watkins Family Reunion. She was very dedicated to her family and friends. She had a special relationship with many of her nieces and nephews. Annette generally, was not one to complain and would always have a smile on her face. Because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, her influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her. For her faithfulness, Annette Florence was awarded her heavenly crown on Thursday, January 2, 2020 surrounded by family at AdventHealth Orlando in Orlando, Florida. She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Wilson; grandmother: Bessie Watkins; brothers: Curtis Wilson, Carl Wilson, Arthur Wilson: nieces: Dominique Drakes, Ashanté Wilson; nephews: Corey Wilson, Anthony McAfee; Godchild: Dei-End Dillworth. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her loving husband of 46 years: Freddie L. Florence; son: Rodney Florence (Laterrel) of Altamonte Springs, Florida; daughter: Angela D. Florence of Apopka, Florida; like a son: Kedrick Cuyler of Altamonte Springs, Florida; mother, Catherine Kelly (Fred); brothers: Michael Wilson of Columbus Georgia, Earl Wilson (Priscilla) of Rochester, New York, Pastor Milton Wilson (Pastor Juene) of Winter Garden, Florida, Sonny Wilson (Helena) of Rochester New York, George Watkins, III; sisters: Connie Holmes of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Kathy Huntley of Orlando, Florida, Julia Saddler and Pamela Harris of Rochester, New York; sisters -in-law: Mary Ann Thornton of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Jeanette Spurling of Eatonville, Florida; uncles, Magnus Nelson (Margaret), George Watkins, Jr. (Francina) of Altamonte Springs, Florida; aunt: Beulah Davidson (Jones) of Altamonte Springs, Florida; grandchildren: DeShawnna Boone-Florence of St. Augustine, Florida, Rodney Florence, Jr., Chavis Lane of Orlando, Florida, Tabre Ruiz, Eboni Sasson, (Kevin), Mya Florence, Myleseia Florence, LaPrincia Floyd, Amari Florence, all of Altamonte Springs, Florida; great grandchildren: Nevaeh Sasson, Kevin Sasson, Jr., Amele Haggins, Rodney Florence, III, Layadicea Jeffries of Altamonte Springs, Florida; God-children: Lenny Nelms of Sanford, Florida, Jenna Williams of Eatonville, Florida; a special niece: Wonda Billingsley (Joseph) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; special friends: Pastor Joyce Smith, Elder Kathy Tyler, Ruthenia Washington; special caregiver: Kathy Martin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and loving friends.
