Alicia Veronica Byrd

Alicia was born on April 23, 1985 at Staten Island Hospital to Marsha and George Byrd in Staten Island, New York. She lived her very early years there along with her parents, sister and two brothers. The family relocated from Staten Island to South Florida in 1993. Alicia made many friends in Middle and High School. Many remember her for “Always having a smile and infectious personality.” Alicia graduated from Naples High School in 2003. She then attended Johnson and Wales University to pursue her dream of becoming a pastry Chef. She continued in the food and hospitality industry through her employment with the International Hotel Group for the balance of her career. She enjoyed her interaction with countless persons, always eager to give her best to all she came in contact with. Alicia had a beautiful smile and such a loving spirit about her. She loved children and her great joy was to hold and play with her four nieces and nephews. She also had an exceptional passion for baking all kinds of goodies, especially red velvet cake, pineapple up-side down cake and banana pudding. She would always playfully critique her mom’s baking. Alicia loved the Christmas season and had such a giving spirit about her; shipping out boxes of goodies to family and friends. She eagerly looked forward to our church Holiday Hotel Outreach for the needy and homeless children. She helped to fill the children’s stockings and then at the hotel, she gave out the toys to the children. She could also cook savory dishes and had a humorous rivalry with her dad on some of the foods she made. She relocated from Miami to Central Florida in 2015 to be closer with her family. Alicia was diagnosed with Cancer on December 28, 2017. She fought cancer with all of her might, but she also lived her days to the fullest. She flew on an airplane for the first time in 30 years, went to Disney World and traveled to Cayman Islands. During her last days, Alicia was surrounded by her mom and dad, her siblings and aunts as well as many staff who came by to give her encouragement. She even requested some Bar B Q Spareribs and cake. After visiting with family, she simply stated “I want to go home.” Alicia passed peacefully March 13th, surrounded by family at the age of 33 at AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida. Her mission on this earth is completed. Alicia leaves to mourn her passing: her mom and dad, Marsha and George Byrd; her sister, Dr. Tristan Reddick and Brother-in-law, Zorate Reddick and niece and nephew Hannah and Caleb Reddick; Brother, George Byrd, Jr. of Boston and niece and nephew Ruby and Roman Byrd; and Brother, Robert Byrd and Sister-in-law, Micharon Byrd of Naples; Grandparents, Nelly Anderson of Staten Island, NY and Mamie Daniels of Kissimmee; Aunts, Lisa Williams of Raleigh, Gabrielle Jordan of Miami, and Leila Bodden of Staten Island, NY; Uncles, Elvis and Howard Byrd of Staten Island, NY and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
