    Willa Dean Wilkes

    October 24, 1943 - July 27, 2021

Willa Dean Wilkes, affectionately known as "Janie" was born in Meigs, Georgia on October 24, 1943 to parents, Walter Lee Anderson, Sr. and Dessie Mae Anderson. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She devoted her life to her family as she and Isaac Wilkes, Sr. raised their 7 Kinds to adulthood. Willa always had to have everything in order. To know her was to love her. She loved going to church. She was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church initially under the leadership of Pastor Fred L. Maxwell to her and her family for several generations. After the passing of Pastor Maxwell, she continued to be a faithful member under Pastor Rolous L. Frazier. Willa was very fashionable. She loved to shop and always looked her best no matter what. She was known to all as a great cook, especially her turkey wings and rice which she fed her family for many nights. This recipe is a tradition that has been passed down along with her love for ALL of her children. In her spare time, besides spending quality time with her family, she enjoyed watching soap operas as well as the Lifetime and Game Show Networks with her beloved dog "Koda". Preceding her in death were Walter Lee Anderson, Sr. and Mrs. Dessie Mae Anderson (parents), 5 brothers, 4 sisters, Wanda Faye Wilkes (daughter), Glen "Pokie" Wilkes (son) and her beloved dog Koda. Left to cherish her memories are Bishop Isaac Wilkes Sr., father of Wayne Wilkes, Glenda Wilkes, Isaac Wilkes, Phillip Wilkes(Kenya), and Phyllis Wilkes as well as God daughter -Kim Avera, 15 grandkids, and 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
