February 18, 1969 - June 23, 2021
On February 18, 1969 in Winter Garden, Florida, a precious bundle of joy was born to Arthur Lee Smith, Jr. and Vera Mae Smith. They lovingly named her Versie Delight Smith. Versie attended Orange County Public Schools, graduating from West Orange High School in the class of 1987. She excelled academically and was an exceptional trombone player. Her parents instilled a strong fountain and work ethics that she maintained throughout her life. Immediately after graduation, she joined the work force and cast at Walt Disney World. She was a dedicated cast member for twenty-two (22) years. In addition to Walt Disney World, she was a cashier at Sav-A-Lot in Winter Garden for 10 plus years. Versie felt it was time for a career change and the perfect time to fulfill one of her dreams. She became a bus driver for Orange and Lake County schools. Her love for the students was unmeasurable. They in return, loved and respected her as well. During the summer months, she received a grant to provide meals at Zanders Park in Winter Garden. Versie took advantage of every learning and growth opportunity to enrich her life and the life of others. She hosted Foreign Exchange students from Australia, Italy and Japan. Versie’s life was like a beautiful quilt or tapestry sewn together with all types of fabric. Each piece with its own unique color, shape and size. Her “Quilt of Life” was always on display showing kindness, freely giving love and acceptance to others. She had a way of making everyone laugh and lighting the world with her infectious smile. Her greatest joy however, was her family. She loved them unconditionally and worked tirelessly to provide and care for their every want and need. She loved family gatherings, reminiscing of old times, cooking and eating different cuisines, dancing and just loving on one another. She was the family comedian and jokester, always fun times. Versie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was adventurous and full of excitement. She and her niece La Porsha started a travel group and they wanted to see all the world had to offer Versie loved the Lord and her favorite passage of scripture was Psalms 23. On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, God called Versie from earthly labor to reward. Your work on earth is finished. Well Done!!!
