Roy Clevhan David Matthew Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Roy Clevhan David Matthew was the middle child of three, born to the union of the late Willecliff and Irma Matthew, on September 16th, 1953 in Victoria Village, Trinidad & Tobago. Shortly after completing school, Roy began mastering his hair cutting skills at his own barber shop in Tunapuna, Trinidad. He always had a profound skill for cutting hair. After leaving his barbershop in Trinidad, Roy proceeded to gain his Cosmetology License as a barber in Brooklyn ,NY. He played with Caribe Tokyo in John John, Trinidad & Tobago, and was given the nickname, “Cool Cat”. During his association with Caribe Tokyo, Roy traveled around the world playing in carnivals and parades. While living in New York, Roy met his beautiful future wife Debra. On May 11th of 1992, Roy married his loving wife Debra. They both later moved to Orlando, Florida where he continued his entrepreneurship. He was the owner and operator of Roy’s VIP Hair Care. Roy had a calm soul, he had an amazing love for music, sports, fashion, family and friends. He was a proud Trinidadian and loved to lime and socialize. His Trinidadian culture was embedded in his everyday life. Roy had a radiant sense of humor with a contagious smile to follow. He had an excellent work ethic that we all admired. He was determined to make life sweeter for him and his loved ones. Roy was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. The calmness of his spirit was definitely an ease to us all. Heaven couldn’t wait for his greatness. Roy David Matthew was called to his enteral resting place on June 8th, 2022. His departure is a deep and personal loss to us all. We will miss the calm and cool breath of fresh air. Roy is going home to his mother Irma, father, Willecliff and brother Hayden. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife: Debra Matthew, children: Patrice Simon, Krystal Patterson (Oreste), and Denzell Matthew; 1 sibling: Janice (Willis) Matthew; 6 grandchildren: Carmondy Aniece Kadence Matthew, Zuriel Ayla Simon, Oreste Nathaniel Patterson Jr., Parker Olivia Patterson, LeZane King Roy Wedderburn, Carter Joesiah Patterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
