Mother Roberta Hughley was born on February 4, 1932 in Tuskegee, Alabama to proud parents, Rosie Bell (Freeman) Peterson and Johnnie Lee Peerson. Mother Roberta married Charlie Hughley and relocated to Apopka, Florida in 1949. Although she has departed this earthly journey, her legacy will forever live. Roberta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Charlie Hughley whom she loved dearly. She was widowed for 5 years after his departure. Mother Roberta was affectionately known as Mudea by those who loved her. Although she was known as Mother Hughley for her role as a church mother, she equally served as a motherly figure in the community. She fulfilled her purpose of mentoring and praying for others. Mother Roberta was a longtime member of Faith Outreach Ministries, where in the past she served as a choir member and president of Faith Outreach Ministries Usher and Mother’s Board. Mother Roberta was an example of “May the work you’ve done speak for you.” She had a passion for telling others about the goodness of the Lord. Mother Roberta was a kindhearted and giving individual, always seeking ways to bless others. In addition to demonstrating her love for the Lord, she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and creating lifetime memories with her family. She will be forever missed and remembered for her kindness, compassion, and dedication by ALL who knew her!! Roberta was proceeded in death by: her Husband, Charlie Hughley; Mother, Rosie Bell (Freeman) Peterson; Father, Johnnie Lee Peterson; Mama, Alberta Peterson; Daughter, Dorothy Gayle Subbs; Grandsons, Lamar Hughley Jr., and Robert Greathouse II; Siblings: Brothers, Leonard, Johnnie Lee, Clinton, Roosevelt, and Elijah Peterson; James, George, and Thomas Blackmon; Sisters, Mary Carrol, Jean Moss and Doris Dennis. Mother Roberta leaves to cherish her precious memories: Sister, Laurice Peterson; eight children to maintain her legacy: Shirley Greathouse, Jacqueline Harper (Clemmie), Charles Hughley Sr., (Jacqueline), Lamar Hughley, Belinda Hughley Batten, Lynn Kara, and Tracey Hughley; all of Apopka, FL; Daughters In Love: Lillie Hughley and Siteria Woods, both of Apopka FL; a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; Nieces and nephews; Goddaughters: Melonie Hughes, Alison Moore-Smith, Cynthia Cason, and Sue Bryant, whom she loved as her own; Cousin, Willie Albert Jerido, whom she loved as a brother; and her leaders and fellow members of Faith Outreach Ministries.
