Milton Jerome Slaughter, III

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 Milton Jerome Slaughter, III was born in Orlando, Florida to Milton J. Slaughter, II and Mary Alice Slaughter on May 28, 1951. He was affectionately called “Roney” by his wife. He was a product of Orange County Public Schools graduating from the mighty Jones High School with the class of 1969. At Jones, he was a distinguished football player aka “Truck” wearing #63, a legacy carried on by his grandson. Milton “Roney” met and was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sharon Jolly Slaughter. They were blessed to be the proud parents of one son, Milton Jerome Slaughter, IV. Milton “Roney” pursued a career at Frito-Lay for 20 years until his health deteriorated. He also worked part-time at Richmond Heights Elementary School to stay active after retiring. Milton “Roney’s” entire Christian Journey was at New Bethel AME Church, Orlando, Florida, where he was baptized by his grandfather. He worked diligently as a Vice-Chair of the Trustee Board; member of The Male Chorus; Choir Number Two; and Class Leader. Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Presiding Elder Leroy and Cornelia Johnson, Milton Slaughter, Sr. and Lula Mae Slaughter; aunt: Maggie Mobley, uncles: Reverend Damone Johnson, Leroy Johnson, Jr.; brothers: Michael Slaughter, Marvin Slaughter; and niece: Michelle Slaughter. On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, Milton “Roney” was called by our Lord to receive his crown. He will be greatly missed, but we know he’s in a better place where he will suffer no more. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Sharon Jolly Slaughter. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 29, 2020; son: Milton J. Slaughter, IV; grandson: Justin Jerome Slaughter; brothers: Edward Johnson, Bosco R. Slaughter (Beverly), Alphonso Slaughter (Cynthia); sisters: Jacquelyn J. Bain, Connie S. Huff (Willie), Ferra Slaughter; sisters-in-law: Rosetta Jolly Walker (Donald), Gloria Slaughter; brothers-in-law: Lewis Jolly, Jr., Jimmy Jolly; aunts: Reverend Susie Johnson-Harris, Mary Alice Slaughter Mitchell, Ethel Faye Johnson of St. Petersburg, Florida; uncles: M.D. Slaughter, Eugene Johnson of Orlando, Florida; a host of nieces: nephews: cousins: other relatives: and bereaved friends.
