Mellenese Chestnut

October 31, 1950 - April 27, 2022

Mellenese Hodges Chestnut was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia on October 31, 1950 to John and Juanita Hodges. At the age of five, in 1955 the family moved to Florida. She grew up in Oviedo Florida, where she attended school at Jackson Heights School. She attended Fountain Head Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized and accepted Christ in 1967. Mellenese began her working career as a dedicated Nursing assistant.Mellenese found true love and married Franklin Chestnut of Chipley Florida in 1969. She was affectionately known to most family members as "Auneice". She was like the "Big Ma" of the family. You could never forget Mellenese. Her home was your home. She housed you, fed you, baby-sat for you; anything she could do... she would do. She was an all around loving and caring person. All of the earthly things are behind her now, and she is resting in the presence of the Lord. On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Mellenese heard God, the chief architect, summoning her to her new home. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Juanita Hodges and 2 loving brothers, Clifton Jackson Sr., and Richard Hodges. To celebrate her life, Mellenese leaves behind three loving daughters: Angela Chestnut Wilkins (Milton Wilkins), Pamela Chestnut Tillison (Kelly Tillison) and Amanda Clouden; two devoted sisters: Jacqueline Hodges Boston and Flora Hodges; seven wonderful brothers: Samuel Hodges, Johnny Hodges, Jefferson Hodges, McGill Hodges, Bobby Hodges, Gary Hodges and Gregory Hodges; ten grandchildren: Cameron Blake, Carlos Wilkins, Milton Wilkens, Kelly Tillison Jr, Tocosha Wilkins, Andrew Wilkins, Malik Garrett, Antavis Johnson, Alaysha Johnson and Yquavces Wilkins; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
