Mary Alice Mott

Mary Alice Mott was born on October 31, 1933 to Annie Lee Brown and Oliver Brown in Edison, Georgia. She attended the Orange County Public Schools. Mary’s family relocated to Apopka, Florida when she was six years old. She attended Phyliss Wheatley in Apopka. Mary met Hezekiah Mott and they were married in 1952. She was a devoted wife and mother, seeing to the needs of her family. Mary worked for Plymouth Citrus, Coca -Cola and Sunland Training Center. She started a home for handicapped children and it eventually branched off into an Adult Care Living Facility (ACLF), which she operated for 30 years. Mary also loved shopping. Her favorite stores were: Big Lots, Kmart, Saks and JC Penny. She often said, “Shop until you drop.” She enjoyed spending time with family. She would always take the grand and great -grandchildren school shopping. Mary was the “Backbone and Rock” of her immediate family. On Wednesday, February 16, 2022 the Lord in His infinite wisdom deemed it timely to call our beloved Mary Alice Mott to her eternal resting place. Her departure is a deep and personal loss to her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by them all. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Hezekiah Mott; her mother: Annie Lee Brown; father: Oliver Brown; son: David Mott, Sr.; daughters: Linda Cooper and Johnna Vanese Mott-Lightsey. brothers: Robert Louis, OB Brown and John Allen Brown; sisters: Essie Cook and Mildred White. She leaves to cherish precious memories to: one son: Nathaniel Brown, Sr. of Orlando, Florida; two daughters: Sheila Mott Bennett (Elijah) and Miriam Mott, all of Apopka, Florida; two brothers: James Brown of Apopka, Florida and Greg Brown (Phyllis) of Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Penul Oliver (Clenstone) and Marylee Whitley, all of Apopka, Florida; nineteen grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and sorrowing friends.
