Mary Lee Ashford Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Lee Ashford, affectionately known as Mae Lee, was born on March 14, 1944 to Jack William Ashford and Mary Ann Johnson Ashford, in Choctaw County, Mississippi. Mae Lee and her family moved to Eatonville, Florida in 1961. She made many friends in the quaint community. Her spiritual journey began when she joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in 1972 under the leadership of Rev. Peter L. Lias, and continued being a faithful member under Rev. Willie C Barnes. Mae Lee loved her church and served in many ways. She loved to cook and serve meals, especially for the Youth Ministry on 4th Sundays. Mae Lee was loved for her famous caramel corn, sweet potato pies, and candy apples during the Church’s Annual Fall Festival. She was a youth worker and taught Vacation Bible School for many years. Mae Lee was one of the first members of the Voices of Praise, where she served for 13 years. Mae Lee was a humble servant of the Lord. She would do anything for any body, especially those that were less fortunate than her. She demonstrated the love of Christ to all who crossed her path. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her. Mae Lee departed this life on June 8, 2022 and is preceded in death by per parents, and Ean Ashford (grandson). She leaves to cherish fond memories: her children, Annette Ashford Glenn (Larry), Nanette Ashford, and Guy Ashford (Monica); her only sibling and sister, Mattie Parker; her grandchildren, Shara King-Ricketts (Deaton), Jennifer DeLaughter Curry (Detrick), Tonier King, Charles DeLaughter II, Cory Wortman (Bryittany), and Kai Ashford; her great-grandchildren, Jada Buford, Ronald Smith III, Kyra Brown, Nyla Johnson, Khloe Wortman, Oshun Mitchell, Carter Wortman, Charles DeLaughter III, Londyn Shazier and Skylar Curry; her nieces, Rosalyn Washington (Rodney) and Megan Parker; her great nephews and nieces, Michael J. Spears, Kamryn Parker, Jordyn Spears and Rodney Washington, Jr.; her god-children, April Stephens, Ashlee Hopkins and Dallas Mack; her very special friends, Jackie Kelly, Alice Haire, Winnie Norfsinger, Rafaela, Nancy and Clay Johnson; her mentee, Natalie Sanders, as well as a host of loving relatives and friends.
