Lue Virginia Baldwin Jenkins

Her life’s story began on October 15, 1947, when Lue Virginia Baldwin was born at Grandma Laura’s house on Clarcona Road, Apopka, Florida to Emma Lee Carey and Buroy Baldwin. Virginia was raised by Grandma Laura Wilson until the age of eleven. Virginia was the oldest of seven children. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary, Junior and Senior High School. Her Love In 1961, she met and married Daniel (Dan) Jenkins having one child Danny J. Baldwin. To that union three children were born Nathan E. Jenkins, Sr., Linda D. Jenkins and Kenneth L. Jenkins, Sr. Her Work Virginia was a Jack of all Trades: Laborer, Carpenter, truck driver and many other tasks she learned. She worked for the City of Apopka for 25 ½ years; 12 years in Public Works Department and 13 ½ at the Apopka Police Department, where she retired as records manager. Her Church Affiliation Sis. Virginia Jenkins attended St. Paul A.M.E. Church as a little girl. When she married, Virginia and Husband Dan joined together at St. James AME Church in Plymouth, Florida. Later she rejoined St. Paul A.M.E. Church, where she has been for 35 years and was also a member of the St. Paul A.M.E. Senior Club. Her Community Virginia loved community service. She joined the American Legion Auxiliary Post 331 in 1985. Later that year she joined the Daughter of Sphinx. Virginia loved traveling so much the following year her son, Danny encouraged her to join the Order of the Eastern Star. Then she joined the Heroines of Jericho and Lady Knights. During her Masonic tenure, she excelled by being Worthy Matron, Grand Worthy Matron, Most Ancient Matron, Chief Counselor, Grand Chief Counselor and Most Worthy Matron of Daughters of Sphinx. Currently, Virginia served as the District Deputy Grand Matron of 3 local Eastern Star Chapters: Davis Chapter #36. Virginia was a member of Z.A.P.T. Elite, Inc., Vice President of Senior Progressive Club, serving as President of Seniors on the move at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Her Family She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Lee Peterson, father, Buroy Baldwin; father, Roosevelt Peterson; Sister, Willie Ruth Glover; Grandmother, Laura Lee Douglas; Brothers: Tony L.
