    James Jones, Sr.

    December 15, 1934 - June 22, 2021

James Jones, Sr. was born December 15, 1934 in Rutherford, Alabama to parents, Willie Jones and Bessie Bee Battle-Jones. He was the sixth child of thirteen children. James was raised in Eufaula, Alabama. He attended Rebecca Comer School in Springhill, Alabama. In 1949, James moved to Kissimmee, Florida where he met the love of his life, Bernice Smith. James and Bernice were joined in Holy Matrimony on December 22, 1954. To their union, the Lord blessed them with eight children. He was a loving husband and father who worked hard to provide for the needs of his family. James worked in the Agricultural Industry, then as a Carpenter and later in Masonry at Hubbard Construction for 31 years. He retired in 1993 as a supervisor. James loved working in his vegetable garden, building things and showing his cooking skills by barbequing for family gatherings. As a young man, James gave his life to Christ and became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James W. Neugin, Sr. He served faithfully supporting his church wherever needed. On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lord called his son James, from his earthly tabernacle to an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. He will be greatly missed by his beloved children, family and friends. James was preceded in death by his devoted Wife, Bernice Smith-Jones; Parents: Willie Jones and Bessie Bee Battle Jones; Daughters: Suzette Jones-Cruz and Pamela Jones-Perkins; Granddaughter, Karla Jones; Grandson, Dante Robinson; Brothers: Willie Jones, Jr., Walter Jones and King Edward Jones; and Sister, Odessa Jones-Scruggs.
