December 22, 1933 - April 6, 2021
Hayward Price Jr. was born on December 22,1933 in Greenville, Alabama. Upon completion of schooling and early into his adulthood, he left Alabama to explore the country and create a life for himself. After traveling to several different states, he finally made Eatonville, Florida his home. Hayward had many talents and skills which he used in careers that he mastered throughout his life. However, his most gratifying job was being an employee of the Orange County School Board. He held positions at several different schools throughout the county and was very much loved and respected by staff members and students at all of them. After a few years of being in Eatonville, Hayward met the love of his life, Marva Lucile Cooley and they were married on June 18, 1965. Although they never had any children of their own, Hayward had children from prior relationships and Marva loved them as her own. Hayward was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Willie C Barnes, where he served on the Usher Board. He and his wife attended church regularly until their health began to decline. However, Hayward’s relationship with God never wavered. Hayward Price Jr. was preceded in death by: his loving wife Marva L. Price; son Kelvin Joyner; parents Clara Mae Davis and Hayward Price Sr.; brother General Lee Morris and sister Lillie Mae Johnson. Hayward Price, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, surrounded by his loving nieces Joanette Johnson and Hazel Hastings, who were his primary caregivers during the last few months of his life. My Last Request Please don't say I gave up. Just say I gave in. Don't say I lost the battle, for it was God’s war to lose or win. Please don't say how good I was, but I did my best. Just say I tried to do what's right, to give the most I could, not to do less. Please don't give me wings or a halo, that's for God to do. I want no more than I deserve, no extras just my due. Please don't give flowers or talk in harsh tones. Do not be concerned about me now, I am well with God. I have made it home. Do not talk about what could have been, it is over, and it is done. Just see to all my family's needs, the battle has been won. When you draw a picture of me, do not draw me as a saint. I have done some good I have done some wrong, so use all your paint. Not just the bright and light tones, use some gray and blacks in fact, do not put me down on canvas paint me in your heart. Do not just remember good times but remember some bad too. For life is full of many things. Some happy some sad, but if you must do something, then I have one last request; Forgive me for the wrong I have done and with the love that is left, thank God for my soul resting, thank God for I've been blessed. Thank God for all who loved me. Praise God, who loved me best! God Bless You All!! Hayward Price Jr.
