    Geneva Swain

    February 12, 1948 - May 31, 2022

Geneva Swain was born February 12, 1948 in Calvary, Georgia to Donnie Herring (Mother) and Cummie Herring (Father). She was the only girl along with her three brothers, Sonny Herring, James Herring, and Jon Herring. She attended school in Calvary (Grady County), Georgia. In 1965, she met the love of her life, Deacon James Odis Swain and moved to Orlando, Florida where they let the Lord continue to guide them. On February 11, 1967 they were united in Holy Matrimony. After binding their love into one, their union was blessed with two children, Danford Swain (son) and Andrea Swain Dassie (daughter). She was the root that held everything together and kept everyone grounded. Stood beside her husband James and behind her children and grandchildren. She was very loving, caring and protective. A close family bond and togetherness was very important to her as she was big on family and always tried to keep the family together. While being the best wife, mother, sister, and friend, Geneva also became a teacher, nurse and great cook. She enjoyed her years being with her children and grandchildren in the dream home they built together. Geneva and James were married 43 years and they were blessed with two children, 12 wonderful grandchildren and twentytwo great grandchildren. She had no regrets of her family life and the precious times they shared. Her second home of praise and worship was Praise Temple Church of the Nazarene. She later joined Springhill Church of The Nazarene of Apopka, Florida. There she served God faithfully for years. At the time of her demise she also was a member of Exodus Church of Redemption of Apopka. Sister Geneva was a true “Southern Bell”, always there when you needed her. She was ever-willing to listen and give words of encouragement to family or friends. Geneva Swain left this world of mortality for immortality on May 31, 2022. Her passing is a deep and personal loss to all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cummie and Donnie Mae Herring; Husband, Deacon James Odis Swain; and Brothers: James Herring and Jon Herring. Left to cherish her precious memories…her loving Son, Danford Swain of Orlando, Florida; Daughter, Andrea Swain Dassie of Orlando, Florida; Brother, Sonny Herring of Tallahassee, Florida; and Sister-in-law, Sara Brinkley of Orlando, Florida; Brothers-in-law: Willie Swain, Johnny Swain, Perry Swain, and Wendell Swain, all of Orlando, Florida; 12 Grand-children, 22 Great Grandchildren; Special Friends: Sister and Brother James of Orlando, Florida; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
