Derilien Vincent
January 3, 1962 - April 15, 2022
DERILIEN…THE BEGINNING Derilien Vincent was born on January 3, 1962 in La Tortue, Haiti to parents Melida Joseph and Thelusma Vincent. He attended school in La Tortue. He was raised in a large family, where his father instilled strong work ethics in all them. His father was a fisherman by trade and Derilien often spoke of those early years on the boat, learning from his dad. DERILIEN…THE GROWING PHASE Seeking a better life, in 1980 at the age of 18, Derilien relocated to the United States and settled in Winter Garden, Florida. Shortly after arriving here, he landed a job at Walt Disney World in the Culinary Department, as a cook. He worked there for several years before changing careers to the Citrus Industry, working at Heller Bros. Packing Company in Winter Garden. Still seeking a better life for himself, Derilien stepped out on faith and opened his own business, “Vincent Unlimited, Inc.” The early years in Haiti of his father being an entrepreneur had a great impact on his decision. Through determination and hard work, Derilien had a very successful business. He built pallets, collected scrap and recycled items. Derilien had major contracts with Ace Hardware, Heller Brothers, Winter Garden Recycle Plant and businesses in East Orange County. He was a mentor to young and old, offering advice and words of encouragements on entrepreneurship. Often they would tell him or a family member how much they appreciated the advice he gave. His hard work earned him the titles: “The Pallet Man” and “The Hardest Working Man in Winter Garden.” DERILIEN…NEW BEGINNINGS The most important decision Derilien made, was accepting Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior. He united with New Inspiration Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Dr. David Harp, Sr. He was a dedicated and faithful member, supporting the church both spiritually and financially. He truly loved the Lord and his church. Even as his health declined, he continued to support the church, pastor and members in prayer. There was no task too large or too small for Derilien to do in the “Master’s Vineyard.” Derilien was a very caring, friendly and outgoing person, with a heart of gold. He loved his entire family and did everything in his power to make them happy. His nine children were proud to call him dad. He loved them dearly and they loved him. He also knew the true meaning of friendship. Derilien could always be counted on, in the time of trouble, happy times or wherever he was most needed. He was a friend, free from deceit and met everyone with a big smile. His Motto was, “Don’t do nothing I wouldn’t do.” DERILIEN…THE DEPARTURE On April 15, 2022, the Lord saw fit to call Derilien to his eternal home. A home where, “God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelations 21:4. His departure is a great loss to his family and friends. He will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew him. Derilien was preceded in death by his father, Thelmus Vincent; daughter: Darlene Vincent; sister: Marleine Vincent, and brothers: Jordan Joseph and Kerlin Vincent.
