Reverend Carroll James Reed, Sr.

Reverend Carroll James Reed, Sr. was born on March 16, 1934 in Lakeland, Georgia to the late J.C. Lewis and Annie Lee Reed. After the death of his mother from complications of labor, Rev. Reed was raised by his paternal grandparents the late Amy and Joe Reed. He received his education in the Berrien County School System and served a tour duty in the U.S Army. Rev. Reed was employed by Golden Triangle Builders Supply which was sold to RoMac Lumber and retired in 1996. Having accepted Christ at an early age at Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville Georgia. He knew he was not only called but chosen by God to preach the Gospel message. Rev. Reed received seminary training in the AME church, and after several appointments he joined the Free Methodist Church under the guidance of the Late Rev. Norman R. McNair and was installed as Pastor of Royal Temple in April of 1968 and served faithfully for 38 years and retired in December of 2006. He also served several terms as President of the IFMC Council. On September 15, 1955 he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life Gearline Reed, and to the union was born twelve children, Betty, Dorrene, Michael, Marie, Sampson, Chris, Carrol Jr. Marry, Jerena, Joyce, Jonathan, and Joshua. After the death of his first wife, Rev. Reed still having the heart to give love and receive love, was united in holy matrimony again to Barbara Reed on December 18, 2016 and the two remained faithfully married until he was called home. On Sunday January 3, 2021, he answered the Master's call, he was preceded in death by his first wife Gearline Reed, Son Michael, parents JC and Mildred Lewis, brothers John and Jimmie Lewis, and son-n-law Tony Bazin. He leaves to cherish his love and many memories, a faithful and loving wife Barbara Reed of Deland, Children: Betty (Tony, deceased) of Nashville, Ga; Dorrene (Jeremiah) Fuller of Dt. Dora, Fl; Marie (Ronnie) Ward of Eustis, Fl; Sampson Reed of Leesburg, Fl; Chris (Mary) Reed, of Orlando, FL; Carroll (Natalie) Reed of Jacksonville, FL; Mary Reed of Mt. Dora, FL; Jerena (Mark) Bell of Orlando, FL; Joyce (Melvin) Scott of Mt. Dora, FL; Jonathan (Erica) Reed of Gainsville, FL; Joshua (Maleah) Reed of Apopka, FL Antwan (Shamika) Douglas of Eustis, FL; Spiritual Son Rev. Reginald Williams (Kimberly) of Deland, FL; Two Sisters: Barbara (Buford) Jackson of Valdosta, Ga; Brenda Johnson of Nashville, Ga; Two Brothers: Carlton (Caroline) Lewis of Nashville, Ga; Frank (Juanita) Lewis of Valdosta, Ga; Five sisters-in-law: Geraldine Lewis and Sandra Lewis of Nashville, Ga; Arletha (Jimmie Lee) Walker of Sorrento, FL; Mary (J.B) Porter and Patricia Newsome of Homerville, Ga; 43 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
