Thank you for your understanding and cooperation Carolyn Delores Jones-Clark was born September 3, 1956 to Robert Jones and Nettie Jones in Clermont, Florida. She graduated from Clermont High School at the top of her class. She was honored Valedictorian for the class of 1974. She was also a team member of the track and field team, earning 1st Team All County for 1972 - 1974 and President of the Beta Journalism Club. She received four full scholarships for her academic success and Journalism Savvy at that level. Carolyn was a well-connected confident person who felt like her contribution to the world should start immediately! She decided to enroll into Lake County Community College staying the course with majoring in journalism, getting married and starting her family. She was able to skip a few steps in her career because she networked and made connections in the journalism field years before she graduated. By 1979, Carolyn was a known top beat writer in the Lake and Sumter County areas. Her work was displayed on the front page of the Leesburg Commercial Newspaper article after article. Her passion was political, social and community events. She relocated to Winter Park in 1982. She had roots there. Nettie Jones mother was a classmate friend of Zora Neal Hurston from Eatonville, Florida. Nealy, Jones and Jackson families rooted in Winter Park’s 32789 district in the mid-1950’s. The Lord in His infinite wisdom deemed it timely to call our beloved to her eternal resting place on Friday, September 18, 2020. Her departure is a deep and personal loss to her family and many friends and she will be greatly missed by them all.
