Bernice Hartsfield

January 17, 1925 - December 26, 2020

On January 17, 1925, Bernice Mabrey was the first born child to proud parents, Bishop Ernest Mabrey and Lady Esther Wilson Mabrey in the town of New River, Florida. Four other siblings were born to this union, two sisters, Ernestine and Melenise and one brother, W. M. Mabrey, all who preceded her in death. One surviving sister, Mrs. Josephine Watkins of Lake Butler, Florida. At the age of 14, Bernice accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of her life. She became a member of the Church of God in Christ in New River, Florida. On December 9, 1945, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Lumus Hartsfield who too preceded her in death. To this union, five children were born with two of her little angels preceding her in death. She later moved to and resided in the town of Plymouth, Florida. This is where she joined and became a dedicated member of New Faith Outreach Ministries, C.L.G. in Plymouth, Florida. With much loyalty and dedication, she positioned herself and served as Church Secretary, Class #1 Sunday Bible School Teacher, Ward #1 Leader, Choir Member, sat with Mothers on the Mother’s Board and later ordained as Deaconess Bernice Hartsfield. She loved to travel and was blessed to do so. She loved meeting the people of God, embracing different cultures and ways of life. As part of her legacy, she leaves to carry on are her surviving Children; Rosa Williams (Jimmie) of Apopka, Florida, who she always talked about, that made her welcome into their home, provided for her, and took care of her until God called her home; Gerald Hartsfield, Sr. (Linda) of Apopka, Florida and Ernest Hartsfield of Eustis, Florida; Grandchildren, Norris (Queen), Vernon, Rodney (Leesa), Gerald (Stephanie), Tamesha (Chris), Earnest, Jr. (Gail), Jeffrey, Brandon, Sheronda, Lurena (her chicken box girl) and Donte (Nikki), Leah and Layla, Rosa and Jimmy; and a host of Great Grandchildren, Great-Great grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
