She was born to parents Sylvia Morgan Clarke and Winston Alexander Clarke and was the first of five children to the couple. Alice Gordon attended Unity Elementary School in Westmoreland. At about the age of 18, she left Westmoreland to venture to Kingston for a better life which some would say she greatly achieved. While in Kingston, she met Lindel Edward Gordon. They moved to England for a while and there on July 27, 1963 they got married and decided to do life together. Together they produced four beautiful daughters: Pam, Claire, Joy (all of whom were born in Jamaica) and Marcia (who was the only one born in England). While in England, Alice Gordon studied License Practical Nursing (LPN). After she completed her course, Alice decided to return to her homeland Jamaica with her husband. With her qualifications, she then worked at a number of health centres: The Whitfield Town Health Centre, The Greenwich Town Health Centre, The Hagley Park Health Centre and even the University Hospital of the West Indies for a number of years. In 1989, Alice Gordon decided to migrate to the United States. She was welcomed by the loving and supportive family of the Daley’s. She resided with them for many years whilst she continued to pursue her career in nursing. In 1992 she received her LPN License from the State of New York, and started working on different private cases. She eventually found a new work home at the Wayne Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation located in the Bronx, New York. She worked there for many years until she retired in 2009 and said Yes to living her best life. Alice Gordon used her retirement to continue her passion on her spiritual path. She found a church home at The Mount Vernon Church of God located in Westchester County, New York, where she got baptized in 2005 and took on ministry as her new found love and hobby. Our beloved Alice Gordon would visit Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Private Homes to pray for the sick. She loved cooking and baking for church functions. She participated in the church choir where she sang as a *Soprano* and blessed everyone with her beautiful voice. It is with honour to say she took her nurturing traits to the church and she was loved and known by everyone at the Mount Vernon Church of God. In 2020, she moved to the state of Florida with her youngest daughter Marcia. She loved her new home, and her new flower and vegetable garden. She enjoyed the sunshine, the new lifestyle and her new environment but a challenge for her was to find a church home like the one she said goodbye to New York. Marcia and Alice were driving around one day and she saw the logo resembling the Mount Vernon Church of God and decided this was her new church home because the logo signified both churches was part of the same district. Alice enjoyed her church services and Bible studies with her Mount Vernon Church. Though it did not feel like home right away, she was comfortable with meeting everyone and listening to the word of God. It is quite certain and clear that Alice Gordon was the backbone of her family and the families of many of her friends. She was very supportive and enjoyed counseling both the young and the old. She was a very good listener and made you feel comfortable to share your deepest secrets with her, because she was trusted. She was always a phone call away whenever you needed her and it shows how reliable she was as an individual. She loved to cook and bake; she was easy-going, fun to be around but she was also very straightforward and was a no-nonsense type of person which is a quality we all admired very much. She is survived by 2 Sisters: Carmen Clarke and Jennifer Mitchell; 1 Brother, Percival Clarke; 4 Daughters: Audrey Vereta Gordon (Pam), Carolyn Majorie Gordon (Claire), Karin Alethea (Joy) and Beverley Marcia Gordon;10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 Great-great Grandchild; Nieces, Nephews and a host of other family and lots of friends. She lived to the age of 82 years and in those 82 years, we can all truly say how blessed we were to have her in our lives.
