Mr. William Eddie Powell

William Eddie Powell was born to the late Eddie Powell, Jr., and Zettie Powell on April 12, 1949 in Greenville, Alabama. He attended the public schools of Butler and DeSoto County. William served in the United States Army and the Army National Guard for a collective total of 19 years. Throughout his military career, he was awarded various metals and decorations including National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal with two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Metal, two Overseas Service Bars and Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He was honorably discharged. He earned various certificates and training from the Army National Guard. He continued his education and earned an Associate Degree from Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. He began a second career in the Construction Industry where he was employed as a construction worker. He later established his own construction business. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Willie Cal Powell and Willie Cleve Thornton and sister Mattie Thornton. William is survived by his caring and loving wife, Brenda; children: Alexzander Wade of North Port, Florida; William Powell, Jr., of Arcadia, Florida; Rodney Powell of Fort Meade, Florida; Veronica Calderia (Gordon) of Kissimmee, Florida; Victor Brown of North Port, Florida; Eddie Powell of Arcadia, Florida; Jennifer Alexander (SSG Okoli) of Fort Benning, Georgia; Derrick Powell of Arcadia, Florida; Tiffany Powell of Port Charlotte, Florida; Tyffany Smith (Charles) of Ocala, Florida; Bretny Mullings (SPC Jarred); and Toneshia Rivers of Kissimmee, Florida; forty-one grandchildren: three great grands: sisters: Barbara Spencer (Chris) of Atlanta, Georgia; Lilly Gulledge (Dwain) of Lithonia, Georgia; Glenda Jones (Karl) of Newport News, Virginia; Yvonne Peterson of Arcadia, Florida; brother: Sherman Powell (Charlotte) of Poinciana, Florida; brothers-in-law: Lawrence Howard (Angela) of Hephzibah, Georgia; Archie Hines (Linda) of Orlando, Florida; Ronald Hines of Kissimmee, Florida; Ira Hines (Debbie) of Polk County, Florida; James Hines of Douglasville, Georgia; sisters-in-law: Avolene Change (Lawrence) of Lauderhill, Florida; Wanda McCrimon (Joseph) of Center Hill, Florida; Amanda Jones (Tommie) of Kissimmee, Florida; Marie Lott (Frank) of Poinciana, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins: including a special friend Estella.
