Wardell L. Coats, Sr.

Families give us many things-love and meaning, purpose and an opportunity to give, and a sense of humor. We are grateful to God for Wardell’s exemplary life, his tireless and unselfish labor among us; the good he did, the things he taught and the inspiration he gave. Wardell loved his family dearly, he was a friend to all, free from deceit and met everyone with a smile. Wardell along with his twin brother Wendell were born on October 03, 1962, in Winter Garden, Florida to Booker T. and Alberta Coates. As a child, he had a quiet, gentle and humble spirit who loved to laugh and tell jokes. The family resided in Oakland but moved to Winter Garden in the late 1960’s. Wardell attended Orange County Public Schools and graduated from West Orange High School with the class of 1980. During high school and after graduation he was employed by Walt Disney World. Wardell loved cars and put that passion into action by working at Evans Tires in Ocoee. His last tenure was with ADS Assembly in Winter Garden where he worked for more than15 plus years. Wardell was married to Carolyn on December 6, 2013. He loved his family and went above and beyond to make them happy. Everyone was treated with the same adoration and respect. He was a caring and loving person and lived life doing for others. In his spare time when not working on cars, he enjoyed fishing. Wardell accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his faith. He knew that God would never leave or forsake him and would be with him until the very end. On Wednesday, May 01, 2019 at 6:51 pm, Wardell crossed the threshold into another room we call death. He was preceded in death by his parents: Booker T. and Alberta Coates, son, David Coat, sister, Marilyn Coates and twin brother, Wendell Coates, Sr. He leaves precious and cherished memories with his wife, Carolyn; (9) children: Wardell Coats, Jr., Shayla Felder, Camilla Felder, Brandon Coats, Booker T. Coats, Ill, Ashley Jones, Dana Jones, Alicia Felder, Christopher Felder; sisters (5): Mary Ann Coates, Teresa Johnson (Rev. Dexter), Adrian Jones, Brenda Prevott (Paul), Valerie Sutton ( Chuck); (1) brother: Rodney Jones; (3) uncles: Pastor Charles McDuffie (Dr. Emma), Johnnie McDuffie, Alton McDuffie; Mother-in-law, Cecilia James; sister-in-law: Gladys Coates; (14) grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
