Walter Lewis Hixson

A Time to Be Born Walter Lewis Hixson was born October 16, 1957, in Griffin, Georgia to parents Troy Mays and Essie Mae Hixson. He was their one and only child. At a young age, the family relocated to Florida where he attended and graduated from Orange County Public Schools. After graduating high school, Walter enlisted to serve in the United States Army. A Time to Love At a young age, married his first wife. He was a wonderful father to his five wonderful children. He loved them deeply and was devoted to making a life for his young family. He later met and married the love of his life, Earnestine L. Washington and the two were united in Holy Matrimony in August of 2006 and became a well blended family. A family man indeed, Walter was a loving and caring husband to his wife and a hardworking provider for his family. His loving, peacemaking and quiet strength made him the absolute “back bone” of the family. At a young age, he developed a passion for fishing. Being on the lake or creek was his “happy place” and he would spend hours fishing and enjoying the company of nature and friends. A Time for Work Walter was a hard working man. After returning home from the military, he began working at Walt Disney World for a short time and later began working as a truck driver for the Rolofff Trucking Company in Longwood, Florida. He was employed there for many years until his health began to decline. A Time to Worship Walter later joined his wife Earnestine in church. He began visiting her home church, Grace Apostolic Church in Sanford, Florida under the leadership of Pastor Maurice Bennett where he eventually became a member. Whenever he attended church, he would enjoy the service and be greeted by the Pastor and congregation with much love and acceptance. A Time to Mourn The Lord saw fit to call our beloved Walter from our midst on April 22, 2023, Walter took his final breath here on earth and transitioned to his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his Father, Troy Mays and Mother, Essie Mae Hixson. Left to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted Wife, Earnestine Hixson; Sons: Julian Casellas (Marion), Laworren Butch Hixson, Michael Davis, and Cornellas Hixson; Daughters: Courtney Hixson (John), LaKishia Perry, and Erica Peterson (Brandon); Sisters: Tonjua Jones and Tracy Jones; Uncle, Richard Hixson; Aunt, Linda Hixson; Brothers-in-law: Hosea Washington, Barriman Washington, Eugene Smith, Michael Washington, Marion Washington, and Terry Thomas; 18 Grandchildren, 2 Great Granddaughters, and a host of other loving relatives and sorrowing friends.
