Funeral Arrangements Entrusted: Stone Funeral Home 516 King Street, Cocoa, Florida 32922 A Time to Be Born Sister Ruthie Mae Gray was born on June 14, 1931, in Cocoa, Florida, to Henry Hollingsworth and Elizabeth Beasley. A Time to Learn Sister Gray was educated in the Brevard County Public School System. She attended Monroe High School, Cocoa, Florida. A Time to Love Sister Gray met the love of her life James C. Gray, Sr. (she affectionally called him “Gray”) at Cocoa Junior High School. They were united in Holy Matrimony on July 4, 1948, by Minister W. B. Coffey. To this union eight children were born, James Jr., Myrtle, Beatrice, Ruth, Lenore, Eugene, Henry and Roxana. Gray and Sister Gray celebrated 60 years of marriage, before his passing on May 14, 2009. Gray would drive her all around town and on every Sunday morning faithfully to church. He would roller set her hair nightly and wrap it up for her, so it would be nice and neatly curled, for the next day. The love they had for one another was a love like no other. Sister Gray made sure everyone knew that there would never be another man like her Gray! A Time to Labor Early in life Sister Gray followed Gray to New Jersey during the months of June to November each year to pick apples. Later, she became a homemaker and caregiver for her mother and mother in love Rosa, until they went home to be with the Lord. Later, she became a blessing to many teachers in Cocoa and the surrounding areas with her in-home daycare, located at 710 Stone Street, Cocoa, Florida, which allowed the teachers to teach children and not have to worry about their own. Let’s not forget her grandchildren benefited from the in-home daycare, too! She was a loving and caring woman to many people and will be truly missed. A Time to Serve Sister Ruthie Gray was converted and accepted Christ as her personal Lord & Savior and was baptized at an early age. In 1960, she joined Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor W.O. Wells, Sr. She served in many capacities as, a Deaconess, Missionary, Sunbeam Ministries and Sang in the GSPMBC Inspirational Choir. Ruthie loved her church and her church members; she was faithful servant of the God. A Time to Die Having lived a full blessed life as a wife, mother, grandmother, Pee-Wee, sister, auntie, cousin and a friend to many, the Lord in his infinite wisdom deemed it timely on the morning of Sunday, July 9, 2023, that Sister Ruthie Mae Gray had fulfilled God’s work here on earth. It was time for her eternal rest and to join those who preceded her in death. Especially, the love of her life, James C. Gray, Sr.; father, Henry Hollingsworth; mother, Elizabeth Beasley; daughter, Myrtle Leona Gray; sister, Frances Hollingsworth; nephew, Robert Johnson; granddaughter, Layla Gray and grandson, Trevor (Tankie) Fluker, Sr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her children: James C.
