Shirley Ann Reed

Shirley Reed was born December 28, 1943 to Willie Davis and Lena Davis in Live Oak, Florida. She pursued her education at O’Brien High School in McAlpin, Florida. She relocated to Orlando, Florida along with her parents and siblings in 1965. Shirley accepted Christ as her personal Savior when she joined and regularly attended Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida. Shortly after getting settled in Orlando, she began employment with Orlando Regional Medical Center (f/k/a Orange Memorial Hospital) in Environmental Services. There, she met the love of her life, Roscoe Reed in 1968. To this union, they parented five children. They shared a fruitful life for 40 years until his demise in 2008. Shirley soon changed careers to join the Walt Disney World cast. She had a wonderful tenure and ultimately retired from Disney. She always wore a smile allowing her to meet new people. She had many friendships which have lasted for decades. Shirley loved her home life, especially her kitchen. She enjoyed cooking the foods her husband loved as well as many family favorites. She loved good music and was a fantastic dancer when she took to the dance floor. Shirley was a woman of strong faith, a praying mother who loved all of her children in a very special way. She was a wonderful mother to all of her children, and an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grands. She loved her siblings, nieces, and nephews deeply and will be missed by them all. Shirley, Momma Shirley to her children, fought a good fight with her health challenges over the past five years. God saw it was time for her to take her rest on September 16, 2024. Shirley was preceded in death by her Husband, Roscoe Reed; Daughter, Tracy Reed; Stepson, Ross Reed; Father, Willie Davis; Mother, Lena Davis; Brothers: Willie J. Davis, Alphonso Davis, and Claude Davis; Sisters: Alease Holmes, Marguerite Davis, Lula Smith, Rachel Davis, and Beatrice Adams; and Brother-inlaw, Jackie Reed. Left to cherish her memory: Son, Tyrone Davis of Orlando, FL; Daughters: Teresa Patterson, Lesile Reed (Darri), both of Orlando, Florida, and Rose Moore (Anthony) of Stafford, Virginia; Brother, Freddie Lee Davis (Sally) of Orlando, Florida; Special and Cherished Cousins: Walter Fields, Donnell Gwin, and Willie Mae Burney; Friends: Virginia Grubb, Doris Huey, Ruth Bryant, and Melinda Higbie; Neighbor, Odell Wallace; 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grand-children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends.
