Mother Sarah Pollard

Mother Sarah Pugh Pollard, daughter of the late Harrison Sanders and Janie Dozier-Sanders was born March 8, 1929 in Sumter, South Carolina. She attended the public school of Lincoln School of Sumter, South Carolina. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Grant Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member. After moving to Florida she joined Bay Street Church of God in Christ known as West Orlando Christian Center C.O.G.I.C. in Winter Garden, Florida were she was a faithful member and served as an usher of the church. Sarah Pollard later joined Holy Ghost Headquarters of Jesus, she served faithfully as a mother of the church for over 30 plus years. She enjoyed serving on the mother board of the church. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She was united in holy matrimony to John Pugh, Sr. This union was blessed with eight children. They remained together until his passing in November of 1978. Later, Sarah married Lee Pollard and they moved to Apopka Florida. They both enjoyed vacationing, seeing family members, and fishing. She was a faithful and devoted wife until his death on August 1996. Sarah Pollard worked at SunLand Mental State Hospital in Orlando, FL where she worked in housekeeping. She worked at Walt Disney World for over 10 years in housekeeping until her retirement. Sarah Pollard was an active member of the Apopka Progressive Senior Citizens Club Inc. She enjoyed singing, exercising, she enjoyed modeling for the church, and as a hobby she enjoyed sewing and pottery. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting the sick and she would volunteer in the community by visiting the homes of the elderly to offer to wash their clothes and clean their house for free. She enjoyed cooking her southern-style soul food and baking her favorite cakes and pies. Putting a smile on everyone’s face she encountered brought her much joy. Sarah also deeply loved and enjoyed her family. She would travel on the train to visit her family all over the world. She would travel often to Georgia, South Carolina and even Paris. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. She quietly departed this life on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Apopka Advent Hospital in Apopka, Florida. Mother Sarah Pugh Pollard was preceded in death by her Husbands, John Pugh, Sr. and Lee Pollard; Father, Harrison Sanders, Sr.; Mother, Janie Dozier-Sanders; Sons: Sebastian Pugh (Pumpkin), Terry Lee Pugh, and Jerome Pugh; and Daughter Johnney Mae Pringle; Siblings: John Sanders, Theodore Sanders, Willie Sanders, George Sanders, Harry Sanders, Jr., Jake Sanders, James Sanders, Stanmore Sanders, EmmaHaynes, Annie Belle, Martha Hanks, Louise Racheal, Josephine Jackson, Pertell McCleod, Mazolla White, and Hattie Wilson. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sons: Patrick Pugh, Sr. of Apopka, Florida and John Pugh, Jr. of Apopka, Florida; Daughters: Emma Lawal of Austell, Georgia, Rose Mary Amadi and Dr. Modestus C.(Maurice) Amadi of Orlando, Florida, and Dorothy Rembert (George) of Hartfield, Connecticut; Sisters: Annie Mae Ludd of Winter Garden, Florida, Marie Jackson of Sumter, South Carolina, and Rosa Lee of Baltimore, Maryland; 25 Grandchildren; 53 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great-great Grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives, godchildren, church family and friends
