Mr. Samuel C. Evans

Samuel Camillus Evans was born on September 23, 1954 in New York City to the parents of the late Samuel C. Evans and Gladys Evans. His early childhood was spent in Harlem (NYC) and the Bronx. He later relocated to Wildwood, FL with his grandmother Susie Bell Jones. He was raised in a loving home where he was taught to be humble, love God and to live by the “Golden Rule.” Sam graduated from Wildwood High School and entered the Breckinridge Job Corps Center where he graduated as a Carpenter Apprentice in 1975. He was employed by Wildwood High School as a Custodian for 30 years. He invested his many talents into every broadening, good work he could find. He was ever ready to do what was needed, always on the alert as how to help, comfort and cheer someone. He always met you with a smile and made friends with complete strangers. He had a “green thumb and loved working in his flower garden. Deacon Evans’ service to the Lord began at an early age. He joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church and continued his walk with the Lord. He loved to sing in the choir. He was ever faithful and a dependable member for 30 plus years. Later he was ordained as a Deacon. He was ever true to his high office as deacon. He was ever mindful of the charge which Paul gave to him in 1 Timothy 3rd chapter. Every morning his praise was the same. “Lord, I thank you for a new day.” He was humbled by the love shown to him by his family and he did not fail to let them know. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. On June 16, 2017 God called Deacon Evans from his earthly labor to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents: Samuel C. and Gladys Evans, Willie and Susie Bell Jones, (grandparents), Pamela Kisselovich (sister), Desi A. Evans (brother) He leaves Cherished memories with his family: Willie Graham (Elouise) Clearwater, FL; Lillian Graham, Philadelphia, PA; William Carey Jones, New Jersey; Shera Evans Duval, (Dennis) Orlando, FL; Marva A. Evans, Augusta, ME; Devoted Nephews: Darius J. Cummings, New York City, NY and Taj M. Allen, New Jersey; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
