Roscoe Hatten

Roscoe Hatten was born on December 23, 1950, in Apopka, Florida, as the third of seven children to Arcolia and Margaret Hatten. From a young age, Roscoe was known for his entertaining, comical, and adventurous spirit. He and his brother, Junior, often snuck off to the lake, where his love for fishing and cooking began. These early adventures led to many delicious fried fish meals prepared for his siblings before their mother returned home. Roscoe attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary and completed his education at Wymore Tech in Eatonville, Florida. After finishing school, he began his career as an Orderly at Sunland Hospital. Throughout his employment years, Roscoe was recognized as a hardworking and capable employee, earning progressive promotions across various industries. On February 14, 1998, Roscoe entered holy matrimony with Leola Taylor. He also was a member at St. Paul AME Church and served on Usher Ministry No. 3. His passions included fishing and hunting, and he cherished frequent travels with his close, long-time friend, Lorenzo Hughley (now deceased), who was his partner in adventure. Among his other closest friends were Robert Willis, Rosevelt Gibson, Freddie Radford, and Clifford Hughley: Roscoe also enjoyed fixing cars, trucks, boats, and lawn mowers, always eager to lend a hand. Roscoe entered his final rest on Monday afternoon, January 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories for all who knew him. He is preceded in death by: Sylvester Hatten (brother), Cinderella Hatten (sister), and Arcolia Hatten, Sr. (father). Hatten of Orlando, Florida; Lasasha I. Hatten of Ocala, Florida; Bonus Son) Dwayne E. Taylor of Altamonte Spring, Florida; Surviving Siblings) Velda Hatten-Morris (W. D.) of Orlando, Florida: Arcolia Hatten, Ir: of Tavares, Florida; Janice Hatten-Jones (Roderick) of Orlando, Florida; Richard Hatten (Tackie) of Clermont, Florida; and Rose Hatten-Williams (Quincy) of Orlando, Florida.; (Loving Bonus Sister) Gracie H. Turman of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
