Robert Lee Oliver, Jr.

A Time To Be Born Robert Lee Oliver, Jr. known to family and friends as “Pigeon” was born to Robert Sr. and Marie Bell Oliver on October 11, 1948 in Belle Glade, Florida. A Time To Learn Robert attended public schools in Sumter County. He was a 1967 graduate from Mills High School in Webster, Florida. A Time To Love He was united in Holy Matrimony on December 16, 1972 to the love of his life, Linda Godwin of Groveland, Florida. A Time To Labor During the span of Robert’s life after graduating from high school, “Pigeon” entered into the United States Army on June 18, 1968 as a Private, but on June 14, 1970, he walked out as a Specialist Four. He had to keep busy so he went to work as a Machine Operator for CSX Railroad for thirty-three years until he became disabled. A Time To Serve Robert was a member of Greater Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and did not want to sit, so he became an Usher and sang in the Male Chorus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Sr. and Marie Bell Oliver; sister, Bobbie Jean Oliver; brother, John Lee Oliver; aunt, Catherine Oliver Henderson; father –in-law, Reverend Roscoe Godwin; mother-in-law, Christell Godwin and sister-in-law, Regina Godwin Eason Transition to Eternal Life On Sunday evening, January 20, 2019 at 9:45pm. He answered God’s call for his eternal reward. He leaves to celebrate and reflect on his memories: his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Linda Oliver; one daughter, Angela Williams (Robert, Sr.); like a son, Jerrell Hopkins (Tay); two grandchildren, Robert Williams, Jr. of Leesburg, Florida and Calvin Williams of Ocala, Florida; sisters, Ruthie Mae Smith of Pahokee, Florida; Mary Louise Oliver of Frostproof, Florida, Doris Oliver of West Palm Beach, Florida and Annie Marie Warren of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers-in-law, Robert Godwin (Denia) of Groveland, Florida, Joseph Godwin (Patricia) and David Godwin, all of Leesburg, Florida, Stanley Godwin (Louvenia) of Hazelhurst, Georgia, Jerome Godwin of Clermont, Florida, ; sisterin-law, Vickie Leeann Godwin of Daytona, Florida; a special nephew, Albert Lee Gray (Sabrina) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a special niece, Quantina Ann Kinlow (Eddie) of Leesburg, Florida; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing friends.
