Reggie L. Haynes

Reggie L. Haynes, Sr. was born April 1, 1961 in Winter Garden, Florida to parents, Rose Ann Haynes and Shellie Libcomb. He was his mother’s oldest child and her only son and grew up in Apopka, Florida surrounded by a large and close knit family. Reggie attended Apopka High School and graduated with the “best class ever” from Apopka, the outstanding class of 1979. While in high school, he was active in sports and played on both the football and wrestling teams. He worked hard as an athlete and enjoyed participating in sports with his classmates and fellow team members. After graduating from high school, Reggie enlisted into the United States Army in 1979. He was honored to be in the military and enjoyed serving his country. After the military, Reggie became employed at Core Slab Structures Construction with family and friends. He was a loyal and dedicated employee until his retirement. On April 28, 1995, Reggie married his wife Wendy Palmer. They were married for 27 years. The quiet and loving couple lived with their daughter until purchasing their own home in Apopka. Reggie was an avid fan of the Apopka High School Blue Darters Football Team. For years, Reggie and close friends were dedicated and supportive fans of the team. During football season every weekend he and his friends attended home and away football games. They followed the Darters football team and would often travel as far as Mississippi, North and South Florida, and surrounding areas. Reggies hobbies consisted of playing cards and dominos with family and friends. He also spent quality time socializing with classmates and friends on Jackson Way in Apopka. Reggie for the most part, was a quiet and soft spoken observer of others. He was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be sorely missed by them all. Reggie was preceded in death by his Bonus Father, Henry James Haynes.
