Newman Frank Jackson

Funeral services will be held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana later this month. In leiu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association Florida Chapter and VITAS Hospice Central Florida Division in Newman's name Newman Frank Jackson, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and resident of Oakland, Florida, peacefully departed this life on January 28, 2024, at his residence in Oakland, Florida. Newman was born to Elizabeth Jackson on February 4, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Newman attended McKinley Senior High School where he excelled in his courses and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of the Mckinley Panthers’ football team. He graduated high school in May 1975. After graduation, Newman attended Southern University and majored in Electrical Engineering. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in May 1979. Newman met the love of his life, Janice Marie Neal, during high school, and they became sweethearts. Following his college graduation, they were married on September 1, 1979. During their 45+ years of marriage, their union produced three wonderful sons, Newman Terrell, Branden Sean, and Nicholas Ryan. Newman began his professional career in 1979 as an engineer with Martin Marietta in Orlando, Florida, followed by employment with Texas Instruments in Houston, Texas and General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York. In November 1984, Newman continued his career at Martin Marietta, which later merged with Lockheed Corporation to become Lockheed Martin. At Lockheed Martin, he was a dedicated and faithful employee who provided 37 years of significant contribution, dedication and leadership until his retirement in May 2022. Newman’s interests and hobbies included photography and traveling. He was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Newman leaves to cherish his memories his dedicated and loving wife, Janice Neal Jackson; three sons, Newman Terrell Jackson, Branden Sean Jackson and Nicholas Ryan Jackson of Oakland, Florida; grandson, Newman Tristan Jackson; devoted and loving mother, Elizabeth Coleman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; aunts, Florida Kilbourne of Zachary, Louisiana, Ora Fisher and Katie Brown both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Goddaughter, Alanna (Delwin) Drake of Middletown, Delaware; step-sister, Loretta (Chester) Sanders of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; in-laws, Donald Ray Neal, Linnis and Bertha Vallery of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Kenneth and Dianne Brandon of Baker, Louisiana, and Shirley Long of Richland, Washington; a host of nieces, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Wallace Coleman, grandparents and other relatives.
