Mitchell Albert Hendricks, Sr.

Mitchell Albert Hendricks has lived a life that most would consider impactful. Born on the island of St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands to Albert and Claire Hendricks. He enjoyed his time on that little island, but as time progressed his parents decided that they needed to make a better life for their young family and migrated to the city of lights, New York City. There, he met some of his lifelong friends, Jeppy, and Phoopey, he welcomed his beautiful sisters, Rochell, Claire, and Ingerborg. Mitchell is what people call a "jack of all trades". He was a plumber by trade, a tailor, a carpenter, a mechanic, a commercial truck driver, and a consummate businessman. H e owned several companies throughout his life. After graduating high school, Mitchell joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served. New York was a tough city, but Mitchell found comfort in his family. He met and married his first wife, Roselin Walker and they welcomed two handsome boys, Mitchell Jr. and Randolph. Mitchell was a man of duty to self, family, and country. This call to duty propelled him t o return to the Virgin Islands to help his father develop his business i n St. Croix. His desire was to have his family in New York join him o n St. Croix. He worked and opened a business on Company Street. St. Croix was a special place for Mitchell. He had his first daughter, Michelle. While living in St. Croix, he met his future wife, Phyllis King-Hendricks, and daughter, Natasha. Together, they had three children, Jenell, Michael, and Dawn. Mitchell's love for others helped him t o turn his business into a community lifeline. He was the first to organize a block party on Company Street. That was one of the greatest events the island had seen. After Hurricane Hugo in 1989, he turned his business into community shelter where he and Phyllis provided hot meals and cots to those in need. It was a place to congregate and fellowship during one of the island's most difficult times. In 1997, Mitchell migrated to Orlando, Florida to start a new life with his wife Phyllis and his children, Dawn and Michael. He started his commercial truck driving company and when his wife got sick, he started his cleaning business. Mitchell was a man whose hands were used to create, hold, console, build, and love all his loved ones. Mitchell Albert Hendricks was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Claire Hendricks, his beloved wife Phyllis King-Hendricks, and his children Michelle Hendricks and Randolph Walker-Hendricks. He is survived by his: Children Mitchell A . Hendricks Jr., Natasha N . Oliver, Jenell Hendricks, Michael A. Hendricks, and Dawn T. Hendricks.
