Minnie Louise Stiggons-Gamble

Minnie Louise Stiggons was born December 12, 1950, to Edith Stiggons and Thomas English in Mims, Florida. As a toddler her father, Thomas English was killed in an automobile accident. Minnie, also known as “Pop” lived in Mt. Dora, Florida for many years than moved with her family to Sorrento, Florida. As a young child until adulthood she was raised by her parents, Leavie and Edith Stiggons-Gilmore. After graduating from Mt. Dora High School, Mt. Dora, Florida in 1969, she so bravely continued her journey by moving to Brooklyn, New York to pursue her desires to become a nurse. After two years of studies Minnie Louise graduated nursing school as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She decided to remain in Brooklyn, New York and was taken in by one of her mother’s first cousin, Alice Whitehead Johnson Daniel and family. Minnie Louise Stiggons-Gamble was employed by Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York for twenty-two years. She was injured on the job and had to retire due to her disability. She and her family moved to her home area where she remained until her untimely death. Minnie Louise Stiggons met and married her soulmate James Gamble. To that union they had one son, Ashima Gamble. The Lord in His infinite wisdom deemed it timely to call our beloved Minnie Louise Stiggons-Gamble from her earthly home to her eternal home in glory on Monday, August 27, 2018. Her departure is leaving a void in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: James Gamble, parents: James English, Leavie Gilmore and Edith Stiggons-Gilmore; grandparents: John Lee and Katie Stiggons, five aunts and four uncles. Minnie Louise Stiggons-Gamble leaves to cherish her loving memories: son: Ashima Gamble, Eustis, FL; sisters: Jannie M. Poole, Miami, FL; Linda L. Wright (Willie), Fruitland Park, FL; and Diane L. Gilmore, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brothers: Lee F. Gilmore, Sorrento, FL; and Thomas Stiggons (LaTasha), Rockledge, FL; New York siblings: Sharon Blount, Pensacola, FL; Delmer White, Brooklyn, NY; nieces: Melinda Bryant (Keith), Talya and Etta Wright, LaSonya Poole, Yolanda Gilmore, LaReatha Gilmore and Helen R. Zanders; nephews: Alfred Poole, Franklin Wright, Jr. (Ayah), and Raphael Gilmore (wife); aunts: Julie McKinnon, Fruitland Park, FL; Jearline Stiggons, Daytona, FL; loving and devoted uncles: James Hamilton, Tangerine, FL; and Clarence Curry, Mt, Dora, FL; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, many relatives and sorrowing friends.
