Michael J. Thompson

Pastor Michael Jay Thompson was born May 8, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio. His parents, Augusta and Gladys Thompson, welcomed him into this world with joy and gladness. A bundle of joy, Michael was weighing 8lbs 12 ounces and wearing 8-month-old clothes before leaving the Hospital. The toddler clothes purchased for Michael at the time of birth were not going to work. Michael attended Cleveland public schools and graduated from Glenville High School. His greatest interest was auto mechanics and the trucking industry. Michael worked in the trucking industry, driving 18-wheelers for over 35 years. Michael could listen to an automobile and tell you what was wrong with it, or tell you that the motor sounds good and strong. He was the family’s and friends’ go-to person for purchasing a reliable vehicle at a good price. Michael’s favorite hobby was roller skating. He was a scholar and true devotee when it came to skating. In 1980, Michael met and fell in love with his wife, Barbara, and they were married on September 7, 1985. They moved to Florida to start their lifelong journey of love and marriage.They often dressed alike to express their unity of love, and they always complimented each other. Their fashion choices mirrored one another as a reflection of their shared mind and heart. They were devoted, faithful members of Orlando Christian Center, New Destiny, and One Accord Church. Michael and Barbara were ordained as Pastors and began the love of building the kingdom of God with their ministry and church Life Changing Ministries (changing lives one day at a time through Jesus Christ). Michael and Barbara raised a bouncing baby boy, Shawn, into a handsome young man. They nurtured, imparted, cherished, and inspired Shawn with unwavering love. From his early days of pre-k to graduating with honors from High School. He is very much like Mike and never meets a stranger. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Augusta Thompson, his mother, Gladys Thompson, his brother, Ronald Thompson, and his sister, Gwendolyn West Young. Left to cherish his memories are his beautiful wife, Barbara; son, Shawn; sisters: Carolyn Smith, Debra Pendleton ( Clarence), and Pamela Thompson; brother, Augustus Thompson Jr.; sisters-in-law, Shawntina and Sharru Jones; and brothers-in-law, Cornelius and Anthony Jones; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins, and great friends. And a special thanks to his brother-in-love (law), Anthony Jones, for always having his back no matter the circumstances or situations; and his best friend, Deacon Tony Smith.
