Merletha Rolle

Merletha Burns Rolle affectionately known as '' Mother Rolle'' was born on February 15, 1925, to the late Nicholas Burns and Marion Deauvex Burns. Merletha was a jovial beautiful baby girl which brought joy to their life. She was the youngest of six siblings was born and raised in both Bain Town, and Port Howe, Cat Island Bahamas. Preceding her in transition was Rev. Emmanuel Rolle, husband and sons, Phares, Amud, Kenneth Rolle; Amud Rolle Jr. Merletha grew up in a Christian home where emphasis was placed on discipline and a ''good spanking'' was often the reward for rude behavior. She developed a strong relationship with God and received Christ in her life at a very young age. As an active member of Mother Ethel's Church, she received most of her formative Christian ethics and teachings about the Holy ghost and the importance of learning God's Word. Merletha attended the schools in Port Howe, Cat Island Bahamas, where she excelled as a student. She was affectionate and grew into a strong independent young woman. Living her early adulthood of her life in Cat Island, Bahamas, Merletha's independence and strong work ethics led her to migrate to Nassau in her early 20's seeking employment. In 1949 while working in Nassau Merletha, met and married the love of life, Emmanuel Rolle. God, blessed them with eight children, six boys and two girls. She loved her children to the uttermost; she prayed for her children up to the day she went home to be with the Lord. In 1954 they migrated to the United States to live. They lived in Miami, FL, then Deland, FL and finally settled in Winter Park FL. Here is where they settled raising their family. After, her health declined; Merletha lived with her eldest daughter until God called her for eternal rest. Most of her life housekeeping and caregiver was her profession; but her most important/precious job of all was on the mission field for God. Her career was living, teaching, preaching and sharing the Word of God with anyone who was interested. She was trulv a praying woman of God. Never, failed to pray for the sick or whomever. Marletha was well liked by all and to everyone who came in contact with her, she was friendly and had a jubilant spirit. Her favorite conversation was about the Lord; always preaching "That you must be born again." God blessed Merletha with 97years of life before he called her into eternal rest. Mother Rolle was not just a mother to her children, but her role was a mother to many that got an opportunity to know her. A life well lived, a love well known, a precious gift from God, and a job WELL DONE may her soul rest in peace. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters: Veraleane Blake Watson and Gelita Rolle; Sons: Samuel, Euckial, and Frederick Rolle. Grandchildren: Kimberly Edwards, Donteds Marshall, Fabiana Watson, Whitney Rolle, Michael Rolle. Great grandchildren: Isaac Richardson, Briana Edwards, Ariel Edwards, and Corey Edwards, Josiah Watson Greer, King Smith, Liliana Trong and London Marshall.
