Bryan and Hortense R. Mascoe. As a teenager, she left her beloved Jamaica to join her mother in the United States, where she attended and graduated from William Howard Taft High School in the Bronx, New York. After high school, Mercia pursued higher education at Hostos Community College, earning a certication in education. Mercia’s career led her to the prestigious Metropolitan Opera House, where she worked for five years, an experience that enriched her love for the arts. In the winter of 1982, while visiting her cherished Aunt Hazel in Kissimmee, Florida, Mercia met the love of her life, Ebzon Williams. They relocated to Manhattan that summer and were married on August 10, 1985. In this union, Mercia was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Shanique and Tizzana. After spending many years in New York, Mercia and Ebzon moved to Orlando, Florida, to be closer to her mother. She took on the role of a devoted stay-at-home mother before later returning to the workforce, where she worked with the Orange County School Board at Walker Middle School until her retirement in 2021. Mercia was preceded in death by her parents, Hortense R. Mascoe and Luther A. Bryan, as well as her stepmother, Christiana Bryan. She was also preceded in death by her uncle, Hartley Mascoe; her beloved Aunt, Hazel; and her beloved cousins, Durvent and Ruby. Mercia leaves to celebrate her life: her loving and devoted husband, Ebzon Williams; two extraordinary daughters, Shanique and Tizzana Williams; Raheen (Godson); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. Mercia will be remembered as the fashion icon of the family, always bringing her unique style and grace wherever she went. She took great pride in sharing family history, passing down stories and wisdom that connected everyone to their roots. Her love and wisdom touched the hearts of both family and friends, leaving an enduring impact. Above all, Mercia will always be remembered as the life of the party, lighting up every room with her infectious energy and spirit. Her legacy of love, joy, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
