Martin P. Francis Sr.

Martin P. Francis, a beloved soul was born on November 12, 1932 on the island of Trinidad to parents George Patrick and Loretta Francis. On March 12, 1971, Martin embarked on a journey of love and commitment when he united in marriage with his devoted wife, Georgia Francis. His wife passed March 14, 2022. A steadfast husband and caring father, Martin leaves a legacy of familial warmth and unwavering support. Martin’s professional journey was marked by establishing his cabinetmaking business and a twenty six year tenure in the Engineering department at Florida Hospital, Orlando (now known as Advent Health) as a master cabinetmaker, retiring in 2006. Beyond his professional achievements, Martin was an active and dedicated Mt. Olive SDA church member. He served as the Head Elder, Sabbath School Superintendent, Leader of the Personal Ministries department, Prison Ministry Leader, Community Services Team Members, and AYS Leader. Martin completed his Master Guide training in 1987 and found joy teaching Master Guide Classes sponsored by the Southeastern Conference, and later as the Director of the Apopka Trailblazers Pathfinder Club. His passion for guiding the younger generation and imparting spiritual knowledge left and indelible mark on the hearts of those he mentored. Martin’s life was a testament to his role as a fisher of men. Always seeking to connect and point hearts to the goodness and saving grace of the Lord, he touched the lives of many with his compassionate spirit and unwavering faith. He would often say, “Jesus is the answer and prayer is the key.” Martin’s enduring impact on his family, church and community will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him. He peacefully transitioned from this world at the age of 91 on Monday, February 19, 2024. Surrounded by the embrace of loved ones, he bid farewell to the earthly realm at his home in Ellijay, Georgia. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Martin was preceded in death by his devoted Wife, Georgia Francis; Mother, Loretta Francis; Father, George Patrick; Brothers: Rudy Patrick and Lewis Patrick; and beloved Sister, Maria Francis. His surviving family will carry forward his legacy: Daughters: Kimberly Graham (Ulrick) of Ellijay, Georgia, Christine Francis of Atlanta, Georgia, Crescentia Ganpatt of Canada; Sons: Mark Francis (Cynthia) of Apopka, Florida, Martin Francis-Motoki of Orlando, Florida, and Willie Avery (Kimberly) of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by his dear Sister, Margaret Francis Ranghill from Trinidad, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
