Marilyn A. Slade

Marilyn Aslena Williams was born to Aslena and Arthur Williams on June 23, 1935, in Apopka, Florida. Marilyn attended and grew up in St. Paul A.M. E. Church and at an early age, she accepted and dedicated her life to Jesus Christ. She began serving as a teenager by playing the piano at St. Paul for Sunday School and Morning Worship. She began her formal education by attending Elementary School in Apopka and later Hungerford High School in Eatonville, Florida. In 1967 Marilyn moved to Newark, New Jersey to provide a better life for herself and her children. She continued her education by receiving her GED and matriculating to Nursing School. She completed and earned a certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a dedicated employee who enjoyed nursing. She served and cared for patients at United Hospital in Newark until retirement. In her spare time, Marilyn loved crocheting, word finders puzzles, and in her younger years ceramic making and sewing. Marilyn attended and joined St. Luke A.M. E. Church in Newark, where she was a faithful member. In 2005 she moved back to Florida to be near her children and other family. She continued her Christian journey in Tampa, Florida as a member of Allen Temple A.M. E. Church where she attended regularly until her health began to decline. On Friday afternoon, July 5, 2024, with her daughters by her side, God called her home from earth to glory to receive her reward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aslena and Arthur Williams, her brother Clifford J. Williams, and her cousin (like a sister) Edna Mae Henderson-Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved and devoted children, Three Daughters, Frequita Slade Barrington (Deceased spouse Louie), Monticello, Florida, Deborah Slade, Orlando, Florida, Sarita Slade, Valrico, Florida; One Son, Wilbert Kelvin Slade, East Orange, New Jersey; One Sister, Marva “Bobbie” Usry, Newark, New Jersey; Seven Grandchildren, Antoine Slade, Orlando, Florida, Tysantt Torrance (Stephanie), Richmond Virginia; Kelvin Thomas (Jacqui), Kearny, New Jersey; Jermaine Slade, Altamonte, Florida; Phelicia Slade Baldwin (Brian), Tampa, Florida; Corrine Slade, Chicago, Illinois; Cassandra “Cassie” Slade, Montclair, New Jersey; a host of Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
