Margaret Blake

Margaret Robinson Blake was born, January 9, 1925 in Alachua County to Albert and Maggie Robinson. She attended Alachua County Schools. In 1942 she moved to Leesburg, Florida where she met and married Charlie Joe Bowers; to that union two children were born. Later Charlie and Margaret were divorced. In 1948 she met the late Willie Blake and they were married. During this union there were ten amazing children born. They later moved to Groveland, Florida in 1962. Margaret was a hard worker; she held employment at several jobs such as Walt Disney World, labor work and housekeeper at Best Western. She was a “pillar” in the community, as she would come home after a hard day at work and began “rattling” the pots and pans to cook for her children and the neighbors. Anyone who would knock on her door in the neighborhood, she made sure they received a plate to take home. She was affectionately called, “Margaret” “Mutter” “Granny” “Nana and definitely “Mom”. She knew the Lord and was baptized at a very young age in Alachua County. She attended First Missionary Baptist Church in Groveland, Florida. She later moved her membership to Greater Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Billy Royals Lock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Maggie Robinson; husband, Willie Blake, daughter, Diane Blake and son, Charles J. Blake; brothers, Elmo Robinson, Albert Robinson, David Robinson, Nolan Robinson, James Robinson, Jimmie Robinson, Oscar Robinson (Big Boy), Jack Robinson, Hardy Robinson and Oscar Robinson (Bill), sisters: Mary Mitchell, Dorothy Mazon, Flora Bradley, Willie Mae Garrison, Jessie Mae Ford and Isabell Smith. She leaves to cherish precious memories to: daughters: Delorise Bowers of Leesburg, Florida, Gloria Jean Bowers of Boston, Massachusetts, Carolyn “Kitty” Blake of Clermont, Florida, Linda Bowers of Groveland, Florida, Terrilyn Blake of Boston Massachusetts, Bernita Blake of Groveland, Florida and Felicia Tinney (Gary) of West Haven, Connecticut; sons: Alonza “Wimp” Bowers of Ft. White, Florida, Ronald Blake of Groveland, Florida and James Michael Blake of Midway, Georgia; one sister-in-law: Norris Robinson of Alachua County, like sons: DeVun Robinson of Leesburg, Florida and Derrick Graham of Tampa, Florida; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; twenty great-great grandchildren; a special friend the late Charles Graham; a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
